To the Library and Beyond Visit the Library on Saturdays 10 AM – 3 PM to chat with Joan and Frances. Ask Frances about the coming events to celebrate 40 years of Library delight! Pat G. offers two “Thumbs-up’ this week for Piers Anthony’s Faun & Games, and The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle. Don’t forget to visit the Prairie Community Library on Facebook. Joan has reviewed the 1990 book, Camera Eye On Idaho by Arthur A. Hart. This book of photos, taken between 1863 and 1913, by early photographers in Idaho gives a good portrayal of life in this state when it was young. The book contains historic photos of major Idaho towns and cities. There are photos of men’s and women’s activities of that time, including work and entertainment. There are stereographic and panoramic photos, as well as some depicting natural disasters. April is “Drop Everything And Read (D.E.A.R.) Month” and “Diversity Month.” Tuesday 1 is Reading Is Funny Day; Wednesday 2 is International Children’s Book Day; Friday 4 is National School Librarian Day; Saturday 5 is National Read A Roadmap Day. In 2021 Prairie Community Library served 2,075 visitors; in 2024 (July-December) the Library loaned 1,460 children's items. The VOLUNTEERS who manage and operate Prairie Community Library aspire to facilitate visionary thinking throughout the organization. "Goodness is the only investment that never fails." Send your volunteer message to cottonwoodlib@gmail.com. “Volunteering helps us build our networks and improves physical and mental health and wellbeing.” Please recommend improvements to the Library’s direction, priorities and customer service.
