Track team competes at two meets
The Prairie track team competed at a pair of meets last week. On Tuesday, March 19, part of the team competed at an 11-school meet at Kamiah while the rest of the team, plus some who competed at Kamiah, competed at the Lewiston Invitational on Friday, March 22.
At the Lewiston Invitational Trenton Lorentz broke his own school record in the 200 meter dash while Matt Wemhoff and Elizabeth Severns each established new schools records in the javelin.
The javelin is being reintroduced this year after having been banned for many, many years. This year it is basically a demonstration event while next year it will be competed at district and state meets.
Kamiah Meet
At the Kamiah meet Callie Remacle was Prairie’s only event winner as she placed first in the high jump at 4’8”. She was also 6th in the 400 in 1:16.97, 7th in the 110 meter hurdles at 20.91 and 9th in the 1600 in 7:03.14.
Sierra Oliver tied her school record in the pole vault as she took second with a mark of 7’6”. She was also 2nd in the 100 in 14.09, 4th in the 300 hurdles in 56.56 and 8th in the 100 hurdles in 20.97.
Logan Weber and Zane Uptmor were the top boys finishers, each with a 2nd place finish. Weber was 2nd in the 200 in 25.59, He was also 3rd in the 400 in 59.50, 7th in the high jump at 5’2”  and 11th in the 100 in 12.59. Uptmor was 2nd in the 110 hurdles in 20.37. He was also 3rd in the discus at 108’10”.
In other girls events Evelyn Gehring was 3rd in the 800 meters in 2:54.21 and fifth in the 300 hurdles in 58.81.
Harlee Brannan was 3rd in the discus at 90’4”, 19th in the shot put at 21’4”, 22nd in the 200 in 35.65 and 28th in the 100 in 16.54.
Ella McLeod was 8th in the 400 in 1:22.74, 9th in the 800 in 3:24.14 and 12th in the 1600 in 7:51.87.
Meghan Fowler was 10th in the discus at 69’8”, 18th in the shot put at 21’5”, 25th in the 200 in 36.33 and 32nd in the 100 in 17.11.
Kyra Robertson was 24th in the shot put at 18’3” and 29th in the discus at 49’6”.
The girls placed 5th as a team with 54 points.
In other boys events Landon Riener was 3rd in the 110 hurdles in 22.04, 17th in the 800 in 2:54.58 and 18th in the 1600 in 6:35.60.
Levi Gehring was 4th in the 400 in 1:00.61, 11th in the 200 in 27.43 and 21st in the 100 in 13.30.
Nate Forsmann was 6th in the discus at 100’3”, 10th in the shot put at 32’2” and 32nd in the 200 in 31.64.
Hayden Johnson was 8th in the 400 in 1:04.74, 24th in the 200 in 29.02 and 41st in the 100 in 14.07.
Ashton Martin was 12th in the 200 in 27.62, 18th in the shot put at 28’8”, 27th in the 100 in 13.51 and 28th in the discus at 71’6”.
Caden Armbrust was 13th in the 800 in 2:43.43 and 13th in the 1600 in 6:01.98.
Gabe Decaria was 15th in the 400 in 1:11.46, 27th in the long jump at 13’10”, 33rd in the 200 in 32.02 and 44th in the 100 in 14.19.
Peter Remacle was 22nd in the shot put at 27’3”, 23rd in the discus at 75’10”  and 45th in the 100 in 14.22.
As a team the boys were 6th with 50 points.
Lewiston Invitational
As mentioned earlier, Wemhoff established a new school record in the javelin with a mark of 125’6”. Good for third place. Ben Secrest was 7th in the event at 110’2½”. Trenton Lorentz lowered his own school record in the 200 meter dash as he finished 2nd in the event at the Lewiston Invitational last Friday. He took over 0.2 off of his old record running a 22.68.
Meanwhile Severns established a new school record in the javelin with a mark of 83’9½’, good for 6th place. Hailey Hanson was 9th at 77’8”.
Lorentz broke his own school record in the 200 by finishing 2nd in 22.68, breaking his old mark of 22.89. He was also 2nd in the 100 in 11.36.
Event winners for Prairie were Sydney Shears in the 800 at 2:27.72, Sage Elven in the girls discus at 130’2”, Bennie Elven in the boys discus at 139’10” and the boys 4x100 relay team of Payton Stamper, Dylan Uhlenkott, Wemhoff and Noah Geis which placed first in 45.68.
Other girls events:
Elven was also 6th in the shot put at 32’8”.
Severns was also 6th in the discus at 108’4”.
Hanson was also 7th in the discus at 105’ ½” and 13th in the shot put at 30’1”.
Shears was also 9th in the high jump at 4’8”.
Avery Riener was 4th in the triple jump at 21’4½”.
Kennedy Reiner was 7th in the 100 in 13.67 and 7th in the 200 at 28.31.
Sierra Oliver was 7th in the pole vault at 7’0”, 10th in the 300 hurdles in 54.88, 16th in the 100 hurdles in 20.24 and 16th in the 100 in 14.39.
All Geis was 11th in the 400 in 1:05.52.
Nadia Cash weas 11th in the long jump at 14’4¼” and 15th in the 100 in 14.30.
Aubree Geis was 14th in the 800 in 2:44.19 and 15th in the 400 in 1:11.13.
The 4x100 relay team of Cash, Kennedy Riener, Aubree Rehder and Avery Riener placed 3rd in 53.98.
The 4x200 relay team of Alli Geis, Aubree Geis, Rehder and shears was 3rd in 1:52.76.
The 4x400 team of Alli Geis, Avery Riener, Aubree Geis and Shears was 3rd in 4:18.10.
The medley relay team of Hanson, Cash, Avery Riener and Kennedy Riener was 4th in 2:01.09.
As a team the girls placed 5th out of 16 teams with 64.5 points behind Sandpoint, Moscow, Bonners Ferry and Post Falls.
Other boys results:
Elven was also 9th in the shot put at 39’ 1½”.
Lee Forsmann was 2nd in the discus at 135’8¼” and 17th in the shot put at 34’8”.
Cole Duclos was 6th in the pole vault at 9’6” and 18th in the 800 in 2:23.65.
Noah Geis was 8th in the 400 in 54.90.
Dylan Uhlenkott was 8th in the 200 in 23.73.
Briggs Rambo was 9th in the 110 hurdles in 20.32 and 12th in the pole vault at 9’0”.
Payton Stamper was 12th in the long jump at 18’3” and 30th in the 100 in 12.68.
Secrest was also 14th in the 800 in 2:21.44.
The 4x200 team of Uhlenkott, Wemhoff, Geis and Lorentz was 3rd in 1:35.15 despite a bad handoff. That time is only .05 seconds off the school record.
The 4x400 team of Geis, Wemhoff, Secrest and Lorentz was third in 3:35.59.
As a team the boys placed 4th with 69 points behind Post Falls, McCall-Donnelly and Timberlake.

Matt Wemhoff established a new school record in the javelin with a toss of 125'6".

Elizabeth Severns also established a new school record in the javelin with a toss of  83'9.5"

Dylan Uhlenkott and Matt Wemhoff had a near disaster in their handoff in the 4x200. At right Noah Geis had a lot less dramatic handoff to Trenton Lorentz. Despite the issues with the first handoff they nearly broke the school record in the event.
