The Lady Pirates suffered their third straight loss at Genesee.
Prairie got off to a good start as the first 4 batters all made it on base. Erica Schlader and Zoey Behler both walked. Kenly Forsmann singled to center to load the bases. Hailey Hanson walked to force home Schlader with the first run of the game. Behler then scored on a passed ball to make it 2-0. After an out at the plate on a fielder’s choice, Audrey Warren was hit by pitch. Catherine Seubert then grounded out to first, scoring Forsmann to make it 3-0. Evelyn Gehring was hit by a pitch but a strikeout then ended the inning. Hanson was the starting pitcher for the Pirates. Genesee led off with a single. The next hitter grounded out to Behler at third with the runner, who was going on the pitch, making it all the way to third. A passed ball scored the runner from third to make it 3-1. A walk and a hit batsman put 2 runners on. Genesee then scored on a delayed double steal. They then tied it on a groundout. After a pair of singles, a groundout to Kenna Granger at second ended the inning with the score tied at 3-3. Schlader led off the second inning with a triple to center. Behler was hit by a pitch. After an out, Schlader was able to score on a passed ball. Behler wound up at third on the play. Hanson was hit by a pitch. After a fly out to the pitcher, Warren single to score both Hanson and Behler to make it 6-3. In the bottom of the second, a walk, single and error loaded the bases to start the inning. Genesee then scored on a sacrifice fly. A groundout scored another run. A single tied the score. A single and then a double scored another run to give Genesee their first lead at 6-7. Prairie went down in order in the third inning. In the bottom of the third, Genesee added 5 runs in the bottom of the third on 3 singles a walk and 2 errors. In the fourth, Forsmann drew a 1 out walk and Hanson reached on an infield single. Forsmann got called out on the bases before Schacher drew a walk. Warren singled to left to score Hanson and make it 7-12. A lineout ended the inning. In the bottom of the fourth things unraveled for the Pirates. A single, error, single, double and a sacrifice fly started the inning with 3 runs scoring. Another single, error and 2 walks followed with 2 more runs scoring. Seubert was then put in to pitch. An error, walk, error and groundout led to 5 more runs scoring with the game ending at that point on the 15-run mercy rule. Prairie had 5 hits in the game led by Warren who had 2 singles and 3 RBI. Schlader had a triple. Hanson had a single and an RBI and Forsmann had a single. Hanson gave up 20 runs, only 8 earned, on 14 hits with 1 strikeout, 6 walks and a hit batsman in 3 1/3 innings. After an out, Forsmann and Schlader both walked Warren hit a hard ground ball that went through the wickets of the shortstop for a 2 base error that scored both Forsmann and Schlader. Warren then advanced to third and to home on a pair of passed balls during Behler’s at-bat. Behler wound up with a walk and Hanson followed with a triple to the right center field gap to score Behler and make it 4-0. Seubert and Bailey Key both walk to load the bases but the inning ended with a strikeout and groundout. Seubert was the starting pitcher for Prairie and gave up a leadoff single and a pair of walks to load the bases. After 2 strikeouts, a single to left scored Lapwai’s first run. 2 bases loaded walks scored 2 more runs before a strikeout ended the inning. Seubert walked just 4 more batters over the next 3 innings after walking 4 in the first. In the second inning, Forsmann was hit to lead off the inning. She stole second and then stole third and scored on Schlader’s grounder to second. Warren reached on another error by the short stop and moved to third on a wild pitch. Behler was hit by a pitch. Hanson grounded out to second, scoring Warren to make it 6-3. The inning ended when Behler tried to score on a passed ball but was put out at the plate. In the bottom of the second, Seubert gave up a leadoff walk then got an out. A double and a single scored 2 runs. A walk and a flare that dropped behind first base loaded the bases. 2 strikeouts then ended the inning with Prairie up 6-5. In the third inning Prairie scored 9 runs without benefit of a hit. Seubert walked and Key was hit by a pitch to start the inning. After an out, Schacher walked to load the bases. Forsmann was hit by a pitch, scoring Seubert. Schlader was hit by a pitch to score Key. Warren hit a ground ball but Schacher was able to beat the throw home and score. Behler walked to score Forsmann. Hanson grounded into a forceout with Schlader scoring on the play. Warren scored on a passed ball with Hanson moving to second. Hanson went to third on a wild pitch and then scored when Seubert reached on an error. Seubert stole second and went to third on a wild pitch. Key walked. Seubert scored and Key went to second on a passed ball. Evelyn Gehring drew a walk and Schacher was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Forsmann was hit by a pitch to score Key and give Prairie a 15-5 lead. Seubert gave up just a 2-out walk in the bottom of the third as Lapwai was unable to score. In the top of the fourth Prairie put another 9-spot on the scoreboard. Warren led off with a double to left. She stole third. Behler drew a walk and stole second. A passed ball scored Warren and moved Behler to third. Hanson walked and stole second. Seubert hit a ground ball but Lapwai was unable to get an out, loading the bases. Key walked to force home Behler. Gehring hit a grounder then led to a forceout of Hanson at home. Schacher singled to score both Seubert and Key. Key wound up hurting herself on her headfirst slide into home and had to leave the game. Forsmann singled to left to score Gehring. Schlader tripled to right to score both Schacher and Forsmann. Warren singled up the middle to score Schlader. Warren stole second, went to third on an error by the catcher and then scored on a passed ball. After a second out, Hanson single and stole second. Seubert walked but the inning ended with a groundout. With a 24-5 lead, Prairie needed to hold Lapwai to 4 runs or less to win by the 15-run rule. A hit batsman started the inning and the next hitter reached on a third strike passed ball. A forceout at second scored a run. After a strikeout for the second out, an infield single and walk loaded the bases. Prairie then ended the game as the next batter lined out to Behler at third. Prairie had 7 hits in the game. Hanson had a triple and a single and 2 RBI. Warren had a double and single and 2 RBI. Schlader had a triple and 4 RBI. Forsmann had a single and 3 RBI and Schacher had a single and 2 RBI. Behler and Key each had an RBI on a bases loaded walk. Seubert pitched all 4 innings and gave up 6 runs on 6 hits with 8 walks, 1 hit batsman and 8 strikeouts. Prairie is now 1-3 in both league play and overall.
