To the Library and Beyond A meeting of the Board of Directors of Prairie Community Library, Inc. is tentatively scheduled for Thursday 10 April at 10:00 AM in the Library. Visit the Library on Saturdays 10 AM – 3 PM to chat with Joan and Frances. Don’t forget to like Prairie Community Library on Facebook. Pat G. gives us “thumbs-up” to: Nancy Atherton’s Aunt Dimity mystery novels; Ernest Thompson Seton’s Rolf In the Woods story of “natural living in the untamed woods”; and Bob Hamilton’s Gene Autry and the Thief River Outlaws. Joan has reviewed K. E. Rivers’ 1997 book, Idaho’s Scenic Highways, complete with many attractive photos by John Plummer. State Highways described are: 13 (Grangeville to Kooskia), 14 (to Elk City), 21 (Boise to Hwy 75 near Redfish Lake), 28 (Salmon to Hwy 33 near Terreton), 55 (New Meadows to Eagle), 75 (Challis to Shoshone), and the Banks-Lowman Road. U.S. Highways include 12 (through Lewiston and Orofino to Lolo Pass), 20 (Idaho Falls to the Montana border), 93 (Utah border past Twin Falls, Arco and Challis to the Montana border), and 95 (Oregon border near Caldwell north to the Canadian border). In addition, Ms. Rivers incorporates fascinating info about hiking trails and points of interest that are near or adjacent to the highways. During the month of April, the nation calls attention to Autism Awareness and Braille Literacy. We are invited to celebrate our Financial Wellness and Appreciate Jazz. Prairie Community Library loan records include 2,073 items in 2022, and 1,484 children’s items (January – September) in 2023. "Great acts are made up of small deeds." The VOLUNTEERS who manage and operate Prairie Community Library aspire to continue maintaining service to our communities by providing the changes you need. Send your volunteer message to cottonwoodlib@gmail.com. “Volunteering helps us celebrate our gifts by giving something back.” Please recommend improvements to the Library’s direction, priorities, and customer service. Thank you all! | COTTONWOOD
