The home game against Lewis County scheduled for Monday, April 13 was postponed due to weather. It has been rescheduled for this Friday at 5 p.m. At Lewis County Things started slowly
against Lewis County at Nezperce as Prairie had only a 1-out walk by
Levi McElroy in the first. In the bottom of the first Lewis County
loaded the bases against Austin Labrum with a double, walk and hit
batsman. A passed ball and then an error scored 2 runs for the Eagles.
Those wound up being their only runs of the game.In the second Cooper Riener, Labrum and Isaiah Warren all walked to load the bases with nobody out. A ground ball to short by John Seubert scored Riener with Labrum and Warren advancing while Seubert was thrown out at first. Labrum settled down in the bottom half of the second as he struck out the side after giving up a leadoff single. In the third Kade Quintal and McElroy both walked. A groundout by Chris Schumacher moved the runners up. Quintal scored on a groundout by Devon Poxleitner to tie the game at 2. McElroy then scored on a single to left by Riener, giving Prairie their first lead. In the bottom of the third Labrum struck out the first two batters before giving up a single. The batter advanced to second on an error but was then thrown out trying to steal third to end the inning. In the fourth, Quintal drew a 2-out walk. He stole second and went to third on an error. He scored on McElroy’s groundout to make it 4-2. In the bottom of the fourth Lewis County loaded the bases with 1 out on a single and two errors. Labrum then struck out the next two to get out of the inning. In the top of the fifth things broke loose for the Pirates as they wound up scoring 16 runs to put the game out of reach. Lewis County changed pitchers and Riener led off by reaching on an error. Labrum was hit by a pitch. After an out, a balk was called moving the runners. Seubert was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Levi Gehring reach on an error with Riener scoring. Quintal then singled to right to score both Seubert and Labrum. McElroy then doubled to right to score Gehring. An error by the right fielder allowed Quintal to score with McElroy advancing to third. Schumacher and Poxleitner were both hit by pitches to load the bases. Riener was hit by a pitch to score McElro. Labrum singled to left to score Schumacher with Poxleitner scoring on an error by the left fielder. Max Rehder drew a walk to reload the bases. Seubert grounded out to first to score Riener. Gehring walked to reload the bases. Quintal walked to score Labrum. McElroy then tripled to right to score 3 more runs. Schumacher reached on an error with McElroy scoring. Poxleitner reached on an error and Chase VonBargen drew a walk to again load the bases. Labrum walked to score Schumacher. Rehder reached on an error with Poxleitner scoring to make it 20-2. The inning finally ended on a strikeout. Labrum was able to strikeout the side in the bottom of the fifth to end the game on the 10-run mercy rule. Prairie had just 5 hits led by McElroy who had a double and a triple and 5 RBI. Quintal had a single and 3 RBI. Riener and Labrum each had a single and 2 RBI. The Pirates benefitted from 14 walks and 9 errors. Labrum pitched all 5 innings and allowed 2 runs on 4 hits with 10 strikeouts, 1 walk and 1 hit batsman. After a groundout moved him to third, McElroy scored when Poxleitner reached on an error. Riener and Labrum were walked to load the bases. Warren was hit by a pitch to score VonBargen who was courtesy running for Poxleitner. Quintal started on the mound for the Pirates and gave up a leadoff single. The runner stole second and then stole third and scored on a sacrifice fly to center. A walk and a stolen base and a single tied the game at 2-2 before Quintal got out of the inning with a popup. Gehring led off the second with a single to right. Quintal followed with a single to left. Quintal was forced at second with Gehring moving to third. Gehring scored on a groundout by Schumacher to make it 3-2. In the bottom of the fourth 3 errors and an infield single led to 2 runs as Kendrick took their first lead at 3-4. Prairie went down in order in the third. In the bottom of the inning, the Tigers expanded their lead as the first 4 batters all reached base and scored. They had a walk, hit batsman, 2-run double and 1-run single. The fourth run scored on a groundout. Kendrick changed pitchers in the fourth and Prairie got to him for 4 runs to pull back with 1 at 7-8. Seubert and Gehring both singled to right and Quintal walked to load the bases. McElroy flared a single that dropped behind the shortstop, scoring Seubert. After an out, Poxleitner hit a 3-run double to left to make it 7-8. Unfortunately he got thrown out trying to stretch his double to a triple. Riener then followed with a double to left but was stranded. Riener went to the mound for the bottom of the fourth and got an out, gave up a single and then got another out. He then ran into trouble as the Tigers got a single, walk, single, 3 walks and 2 singles. McElroy went to the mound and Prairie then appeared to get out of the inning with a groundout to third but the umpire made a late call of a foul ball to bring the Pirates back onto the field. A hit batsman, triple, triple and walk followed before Schumacher was brought in to pitch. He gave up a double before getting the final out. Trailing 7-21, Prairie needed 5 runs just to extend the game but wound up going down in order. Prairie had 8 hits in the game led by McElroy who had 2 singles and an RBI. Gehring also had 2 singles. Poxleitner had a double and 3 RBI. Riener had a double. Quintal and Seubert each had a single. Schumacher and Warren each had an RBI. Quintal pitch 3 innings allowing 8 runs on 5 hits with 3 walks and a hit batsman. Riener pitched 2/3 of an inning and allowed 6 runs on 2 hits with 3 walks. McElroy pitched to 7 batters and gave up 7 runs on 4 hits with 2 walks and 1 hit batsman. Schumacher pitched 1/3 of an inning with 1 hit and no runs. North Fremont at Glenns Ferry Prairie’s Glenns Ferry Tournament opener was against North Fremont of Bancroft.Poxleitner started for the Pirates and survived a 1-out error to put a zero on the scoreboard in the top of the first. Quintal was hit by a pitch leading off the bottom of the first. McElroy reached on an error and Schumacher singled to right to load the bases with nobody out. Poxleitner reached on an error with Quintal scoring. Riener grounded out to third with McElroy scoring for a 2-0 lead. Labrum followed with an infield single but a double play then ended the inning. Poxleitner got 2 quick outs in the second inning then loaded the bases with 2 walks and a hit batsman. A strikeout then ended the inning. Gehring led off the bottom of the second with a single. VonBargen walked and Quintal was hit by a pitch to load the bases. McElroy forced VonBargen at third but Gehring scored to make it 3-0. After a strikeout, Quintal was able to score on a wild pitch before the inning ended. In the third, Poxleitner got an out then hit the next two batters. A wild pitch scored a run before the inning ended on a caught stealing. Prairie went down in order in the bottom of the third. North Fremont drew 2 walks in the fifth with a strikeout in between. The lead runner advanced to third on a wild pitch and then scored on a double steal. That made it 4-2. Riener went in to pitch and got the third out. In the bottom of the inning Quintal reached on a 2 out error and advanced to second on an errant pickoff throw. McElroy singled to right to score Quintal with McElroy advancing to second on the throw home. Schumacher then doubled to left to score McElroy and make it 6-2. In the fifth Riener gave up a single and then hit a batter but got out of the inning with 3 straight strikeouts. Riener walked to lead off the bottom of the fifth but the next 3 hitters were put out. Riener gave up just a 1-out hit batsman in the 6th and the game was then called on time limit. Prairie had 5 hits in the game led by Schumacher who had a double and a single and 1 RBI. McElroy had a single and 2 RBI. Labrum and Gehring each had a single. Poxleitner pitched 3 2/3 innings and allowed 2 runs on no hits with 4 strikeouts, 4 walks and 3 hit batsmen. Lighthouse Christian at Wendell The Pirates played Lighthouse Christian at Wendell’s field. Labrum started on the mound for the Pirates. Lighthouse reached on a 2-out error in the first but the inning ended on a groundout. Prairie went down in order in the bottom of the first. Labrum again got 2 quick outs in the second then put 2 runners on with a walk and a hit batsman. An error then led to both runners scoring as Lighthouse took a 2-0 lead. Prairie again went down in order in the bottom of the second. In the third Labrum gave up just a 1-out walk then struck out the next 2 hitters. For the third straight inning the Pirates went down in order. In the fourth Labrum gave up a 1-out hit, the only hit of the game for Lighthouse. He then struck out the next 2 hitters to end the inning. Prairie got their offense going in the bottom of the inning. Quintal singled to right to lead off the inning and advanced to second on a wild pitch. McElroy doubled to left to score Quintal. Schumacher then doubled to right to score McElroy with the tying run. After an out, Schumacher stole third and scored the go-ahead run on Riener’s groundout to short. Lighthouse added 2 more runs in the fifth on a walk and a hit batsman. On a forceout the lead runner scored to tie the game at 3-3. An error led to the other runner scoring to give Lighthouse a 3-4 lead. In the bottom of the inning Seubert reached on a dropped third strike with 1 out. Rehder walked and Quintal reached on an error to load the bases. McElroy then doubled to center to score all 3 baserunners for a 6-5 lead. Labrum gave up a leadoff walk in the sixth but got out of the inning with no runs scoring. Riener led off the bottom of the sixth with a single to left. Labrum followed with a walk. After an out a wild pitch advanced both runners. Seubert then singled to left to score Riener. Prairie then pulled off a double steal with Seubert stealing second and Labrum stealing home. Seubert then scored on an error to make it 9-4. Labrum walked the leadoff hitter in the seventh then Riener went in to pitch. Riener got 3 straight outs to end the game. Prairie had 6 hits with McElroy having 2 doubles and 4 RBI. Schumacher had a double and an RBI. Riener and Seubert each had a single and an RBI and Quintal had a single. Notus had 2 groundouts and a strikeout against Seubert in the bottom of the first. Riener led off the second with a double to right. Labrum hit a line drive to center that was dropped for an error. Riener scored and Labrum wound up at third. Seubert singled to right to score Labrum. After an out, Rehder reached on an error. Labrum was then forced at third on a ground ball by Quintal. McElroy then hit a fly ball to right that was dropped for an error with both Rehder and Quintal scoring. McElroy wound up at third on the play. Schumacher then triple to left to score McElroy and make it 5-0. Schumacher then scored on a wild pitch to make it 6-0. In the bottom of the inning, Seubert recorded 2 strikeouts then gave up his first baserunner with a walk. After an error, Seubert got out of the inning with a groundout. Prairie had just a 1-out single by Labrum in the third. Seubert walked 2 batters in the bottom of the inning but got out of the inning with a strikeout and a flyout. In the fourth Rehder led off with a single to right, Quintal followed with a forceout. After a flyout Schumacher reached on an error with Quintal advancing to third. Quintal then scored on an errant pickoff attempt at first to make it 7-0. Seubert set the side down in order in the bottom of the fourth. Notus changed pitchers in the fifth and Riener led off with a double to center. Labrum singled toward third. After an out, Gehring walked to load the bases. Rehder then singled to score Riener. Labrum then scored on an errant pickoff attempt. Quintal then walked to reload the bases. McElroy walked to score Gehring. VonBargen then grounded out to short with the play made at third as Rehder scored. Warren walked to again load the bases. McElroy scored on a wild pitch then Oliver VanHouten was walked to again load the bases. Ray Terhaar reached on an error with VonBargen scoring to make it 13-0. dominant 4-game run at the Glenns Ferry Tournament with a 24-2 win over
West Jefferson at Glenns Ferry. This was the third 1-hitter pitched by
the Pirates as they gave up just 3 base hits in the 4 games.Prairie was the road team and Quintal reached on a dropped fly ball to lead off the game. McElroy walked and Schumacher doubled to left to score Quintal. McElroy was held up at third then scored on a wild pitch. Poxleitner reached on an error. Labrum reached on an error as well. After an out 2 wild pitches led to Poxleitner scoring and Labrum moving to third. After a second out, VonBargen reached on a dropped third strike with Poxleitner scoring. VonBargen stole second then Quintal singled to center to score both Labrum and VonBargen for a 7-0 lead. McElroy started on the mound and got off to a rocky start with a hit batsman and 2 walks among the first 4 hitters. After a second strikeout, he hit a batter to force in a run. He then got out of the inning by picking off the runner at second. In the second Poxleitner singled to left with 1 out. He then stole second and advanced to third on a ground out. Seubert singled to left to score Poxleitner. That made it 8-1. McElroy set the side down in order in the bottom of the inning. VonBargen led off the third inning with a double to left. After an out, McElroy singled with VonBargen held up at third. McElroy went to second on the throw home. VonBargen scored on a wild pitch with McElroy advancing to third. Schumacher was walked. Schumacher stole second then McElroy scored on a wild pitch with Schumacher advancing to third. Poxleitner walked. Schumacher then scored on a wild pitch to make it 11-1. McElroy again set the side down in order in the bottom of the inning. In the fourth, Gehring hit a 1-out single to left and stole second. VonBargen singled to right with Gehring going to third. McElroy hit 2 batters in the bottom of the inning but struck out the other 3 he faced. Gehring doubled to lead off the fifth and went to third on a wild pitch. VonBargen was walked. Terhaar reached on an error with Gehring scoring. McElroy walked to load the bases. Schumacher then tripled to center to score all 3 baserunners and make it 21-1.
