Lady Pirates win 3 of 6 The Prairie Lady Pirates softball team won 3 of their 6 games this past week. On Tuesday, April 7, they lost to Lewis County 4-14 at Nezperce. On Wednesday, April 8, they won 16-14 at Kendrick. On Friday, April 10, they lost to West Side 4-12 and beat Mountain Home 24-10, both at the Glenns Ferry Tournament. On Saturday, April 11, they lost to Nampa Christian 0-12 and beat Notus 15-4, also at the Glenns Ferry Tournament. The home game against Lewis County that was scheduled for Monday, April 13, was postponed due to weather. It has been reschedule for this Friday at 5 p.m. At Lewis County In the game at Lewis County, Prairie was held hitless until the third inning and scoreless until the fourth.![]() Prairie went down in order in the first inning. In the bottom of the first Halee Rowland got two quick outs then ran into trouble. 3 walks and 2 hit batsmen led to 2 runs for the Eagles. In the second Prairie loaded the bases with only 1 out as Hailey Hanson was hit by a pitch and Zoey Behler and Catherine Seubert were both walked. Two strikeouts kept them from scoring. Lewis County scored 5 in the bottom of the inning on just 2 hits. 4 walks and a hit batsman contributed to the scoring. In the third Prairie got their first hit on a double to right by Erica Schlader. A ground out moved her to third. Audrey Warren was walked but a strikeout kept the Pirates scoreless. Lewis County didn’t score in the bottom of the inning although they had 2 baserunners on an error and an infield single. In the fourth Seubert drew a 1 out walk and stole second. After a second out, Mikayla Rowland drew a walk. A passed ball moved both runners. Kenly Forsmann walked to load the bases. Schlader reached on an error with Seubert scoring. Mikayla Rowland scored on a wild pitch. Avery Schacher singled to left to score Forsmann. Warren reached on an error with Schlader scoring to make it 4-7. Lewis County added 6 more runs in the bottom of the fourth. Halee Rowland hit two batters and walked another to load the bases with nobody out. Hailey Hanson was then put in to pitch. She hit the first batter to bring in a run. After a strikeout, 4 straight hitters reached base, only 1 by way of a hit. That made it 4-13. Halee Rowland was the only hitter to reach base on a 2-out walk. Lewis County needed 1 run to end the game on the 10-run mercy rule. An error, a 2-out single and a wild pitch led to the game-ending run. Prairie had 2 hits in the game. Schlader had a double while Schacher had a single and an RBI. Rowland gave up 10 runs on 3 hits with 1 strikeout, 7 walks and 5 hit batters in 3+ innings. Hanson gave up 4 runs on 2 hits with 3 strikeouts, 2 walks and 1 hit batsman in 1 2/3 innings. Prairie 0 0 0 4 0— 4 2 3 Lewis County 2 5 0 6 1—14 5 2 At Kendrick In the league game at Kendrick, Prairie took a 6 run lead into the bottom of the 7th and held on for a win to even their season series with the Tigers.Warren led off the game with a walk and Forsmann was hit by a pitch. Schlader grounded out but Warren was able to score on an error by the catcher. Hanson was then hit by a pitch. A passed ball moved the runners to second and third. Schacher then single up the middle with Forsmann scoring and Hanson going to third. Schacher stole second then Behler was walked to load the bases. After a second out, Halee Rowland was walked to score Hanson. Bailey Key reached on an error with Schacher scoring. Warren walked to score Behler and give Prairie a 5-0 lead. Seubert pitched for Prairie and walked the leadoff hitter. After a stolen base, a single scored Kendrick’s first run. After a strikeout and a walk. A passed ball put the lead runner on third who then stole home. A lineout and a strikeout got Seubert out of the inning with Prairie on top 5-2. In the second inning Hanson had a 1-out double. Schacher was hit by a pitch and Behler singled to left to load the bases. Seubert grounded out but Hanson scored to make it 6-2. In the bottom of the inning 3 walks loaded the bases with 1 out. A fielder’s choice scored 1 run before a strikeout ended the inning with Prairie ahead 6-3. In the third Key reached on an error to lead off the inning. Warren singled to left and Forsmann then cleared the fence in center with a 3-run homer. Schlader singled and went to second on an error. She then advanced to third on a passed ball. Hanson walked. On a double steal Hanson was put out at second but Schlader scored from third. That made it 10-3. Kendrick hit a leadoff homer in the bottom of the inning. 4 straight free passes resulted in another run. Kendrick scored 2 more runs on a couple of infield grounders. An error added another run to make it 10-8. Halee Rowland was hit by a pitch with 1 out in the fourth but a double play then ended the inning. Seubert gave up a 1 out walk in the bottom of the inning but a caught stealing and a strikeout got the Pirates out of the inning. Warren was hit by a pitch to lead off the fifth. Forsmann followed with a double to left. Schlader singled to center to score both baserunners. Hanson walked and Schacher was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Behler singled to left to score Schlader. Seubert walked. After an out, Key grounded out with Schacher scoring to make it 15-8. In the bottom of the inning Kendrick had a runner on at second with 2 outs. A single scored one run and then an error scored another to make it 15-10. In the sixth Schlader had a 1-out triple to right but a pop out and strikeout kept her from scoring. Two errors started the bottom of the sixth but a lineout to second baseman Mikayla Rowland was turned into a double play as they doubled the runner off first. Another groundout ended the inning. In the seventh Behler and Seubert were both hit by pitches. After a strikeout, Behler and Seubert pulled off a double steal. Key then reached on an error with Behler scoring to make it 16-10. In the bottom of the 7th Seubert walked the first 3 batters to load the bases and then was pulled as Halee Rowland went in to pitch. 3 more walks led to 3 runs before a Rowland recorded a strikeout for the first out of the inning. After another walk cut the lead to just 2 runs, Rowland was able to strike out the next two hitters to end the game. Prairie had 10 hits led by Schlader who had a triple and 2 singles and 2 RBI. Forsmann had a homer and a double and 3 RBI. Behler had 2 singles and 2 RBI. Hanson had a double. Warren and Schacher each had a single and an RBI and Hanson had a double. Seubert pitched 6+ innings and gave up 13 runs, 9 earned, on 4 hits with 4 strikeouts, 14 walks and a hit batter. Rowland pitched 1 inning allowing 1 run on no hits with 3 strikeouts and 4 walks. West Side was the visiting team and scored a first inning run on 2 singles plus a steal of third and a passed ball against Seubert. Prairie was put out in order. In the second inning 3 walks, a single and a hit batsman led to 2 runs. In the bottom of the second Hanson reached on an error. Schacher was hit by a pitch. Behler then hit a nubber in front of the plate and was thrown out at first. Hanson wound up scoring as West Side completed a double play getting Schacher out at third. Despite 2 errors and a walk, West Side didn’t score in the third thanks to a double play. Key was hit by a pitch leading off the bottom of the third but a strikeout, pop out and leaving base early call kept Prairie from scoring. West Side added 2 more runs in the fourth on a walk, run scoring double and run scoring single. Prairie went down in order in their half of the inning. 3 singles and 2 errors led to 4 runs for West Side in the fifth. Schacher led off the bottom of the fifth with Prairie’s only hit of the game, a single to center. She wound up moving all the way to third on an error in center field. Schacher later scored on a pass ball to make it 9-3. Kenna Granger reached on a dropped third strike then advanced to second on a pass ball. Warren also reached on a dropped third strike with Granger moving to third on the play. Granger then scored on a passed ball to make it 9-4. A walk, error and home run led to 3 more runs for West Side in the 6th. Hanson reached on a 1-out error in the bottom of the sixth but 2 strikeouts ended the inning and the game was called due to time limit. Schacher had Prairie’s only hit. Seubert pitched 3 innings and gave up 3 runs on 3 hits with 1 strikeout, 5 walks and a hit batsman. Halee Rowland pitched the final 3 innings and gave up 9 runs, 4 earned, on 8 hits with 2 strikeouts and 2 walks. West Side 1 2 0 2 4 3—12 11 3 Prairie 0 1 0 0 3 0— 4 1 7 Vs. Mountain Home at Glenns Ferry Prairie pounded out 16 hits and scored 24 runs as they swamped Mountain Home 24-10.Warren led off the game with a walk and moved to second on a ground out. She moved to third on a passed ball. Schlader was hit by a pitch. Hanson grounded out with Warren scoring to make it 1-0. Seubert was the starting pitcher again and gave up 2 singles before getting an out. An error led to the tying run. The go-ahead run scored on a wild pitch and an error led to another run as Mountain Home took a 1-3 lead after the first inning. Seubert walked to lead off the second. An error led to Seubert going to third while Key reached first. Mikayla Rowland was hit by a pitch. After an out, Seubert scored on a passed ball with Key going to third on the same play. Forsmann singled to score Key and Rowland advanced to third. Schlader reached on a dropped fly ball with Rowland scoring and Forsmann going to third. Forsmann scored on a passed ball to make it 5-3. Hanson walked and Schacher singled to load the bases. Schlader scored on a passed ball and Behler was hit by a pitch to reload the bases. Seubert hit a sacrifice fly to left to score Hanson. Schacher then scored on a passed ball to make it 8-3. Seubert got the side out in order in the bottom of the second. In the third, Forsmann was hit by a pitch with 2 outs but stranded. In the bottom of the inning Mountain Home scored twice on 2 singles, a walk and an error to make it 8-5. In the fourth Hanson was hit by a pitch leading off the inning. Schacher followed with a single. Behler hit a sacrifice fly to left to score Hanson. Seubert was hit by a pitch but the inning ended with Prairie up 9-5. Halee Rowland went in as pitcher in the bottom of the inning and got the side out in order. In the fifth Warren led off with a double to center and stole third. She scored on Forsmann’s single to center. Forsmann scored on Schlader’s triple to right. Schlader scored on Hanson’s double to center. Schacher was hit by a pitch. Both runners advanced on a passed ball. Hanson scored on Behler’s sacrifice fly to left. Seubert singled to center and Key was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Mikayla Rowland singled to score Schacher. Warren singled to score Seubert. Forsmann singled to score both Rowland and Kery and make it 17-5. The first 5 batters reached for Mountain Home in the bottom of the fifth on a dropped third strike, 3 errors and a single to make the score 17-8. Two more groundouts made it 17-10 before a popup to the pitcher ended the inning. Schacher singled to lead off the 6th. Behler single to left. Seubert singled to left to score Schacher with Behler and Seubert moving up a base each on the throw home. Behler scored on a passed ball. Harlee Hanson reached on a dropped third strike with Seubert scoring on the play. Grace Kaschmitter was hit by a pitch. Warren singled to left to score Harlee Hanson. Forsmann singled to load the bases. Schlader walked to score Kaschmitter. Hailey Hanson walked to score Warren. Schacher was hit by a pitch to score Forsmann. Prairie didn’t have a baserunner until the fourth inning when Forsmann and Schacher both walked. They turned out to be Prairie’s only baserunners. Meanwhile Halee Rowland got through the first two innings allowing only 2 baserunners. Things fell apart in the third when Nampa Christian plated 7 runs on 4 walks a double and 3 singles. The Trojans added another 5 runs in the fourth on a single, homer, walk and 2 doubles. The game ended after the top of the fifth due to the 10-run mercy rule. Rowland pitched all 4 innings for Prairie allowing 12 runs, 11 earned, on 9 hits with 6 walks. Prairie 0 0 0 0 0— 0 0 1 Nampa Christian 0 0 7 5 x—12 9 0 Vs. Notus at Glenns Ferry Prairie finished the Glenns Ferry Tournament on a positive note with a 5-inning mercy rule 15-4 win over Notus.Rowland pitched again and got the side out in order in the first inning. In the bottom of the inning Forsmann was hit by a pitch with 1 out but was stranded after a groundout and a strikeout. Notus took the lead in the second on a walk, error and groundout. Hanson led off the bottom of the 2nd with a single to right. Behler and Seubert walked to load the bases. After a strikeout, Mikayla Rowland walked to score Hanson with the tying run. Warren singled to center to score both Behler and Seubert. After a second out, Rowland scored on a wild pitch. Schlader walked. Warren scored on a wild pitch. Schacher singled. Hanson walked. Schlader scored on a passed ball. Behler walked then the inning ended on a strikeout with Prairie up 7-1. In the third inning Rowland gave up a 1 out single but that was all. In the bottom of the inning Mikayla Rowland had a 1-out single. Rowland stole second and advanced to third when Warren was put out at first on a dropped third strike. Forsmann singled to left to score Rowland and make it 8-1. In the fourth Notus scored on a 1-out single, groundout, passed ball and a 2 out single to make it 8-2. Schacher led off the bottom of the inning with a single to right. She stole second and scored on Hanson’s double to left. After an out Seubert singled with Hanson going to third. A double steal saw Hanson steal home as Seubert stole second. Mikayla Rowland reached on an error with Seubert scoring on the play to make it 11-2. Notus scored in the top of the fifth on back to back doubles to make it 11-4. Schlader led off the bottom of the fifth with a walk and stole second Schacher reached on an error. Hanson singled to left to score Schlader. Behler was hit by a pitch to load the bases. After an out, Hanson was hit by a pitch to score Schacher. Hanson scored on a passed ball. Granger grounded out to score Behler although the game should have ended after Hanson scored. Prairie had 9 hits led by Hanson who had a double and 2 singles and 2 RBI. Schacher had a pair of singles. Warren had a single and 2 RBI. Forsmann had a single and 1 RBI. Seubert and Mikayla Rowland each had a single. Halee Rowland pitched all 5 innings and allowed 4 runs, 2 earned, on 7 hits with 6 strikeouts and a walk. Prairie is now 4-6 on the season and 2-4 in league play.
