Blood drive meets goal
The Cottonwood Blood Drive made their goal
of 80 units, which isn’t too bad considering we had multiple
cancellations leading up to the day of the blood drive,” commented
chair Brenda Kaschmitter. “Luckily we had several walk-ins who made up for some of the cancellations.” “I would like to give a special thanks to our first time donors; I understand that giving blood for the first time can be a scary experience so I really appreciate our first timers and hope they will become regular donors,” said Brenda. “Those who donated for the first time were; Kellie Bruner, Lydia Deiss, LaDawn Dreadfulwater, Lynette Miller and Danielle Uhlenkott. We also have several donors who have hit or exceeded the 100 pint club, they are Kevin Rehder, Jim & Sally Rehder, Jean Poxleitner, and I am sure that there is many more that we don’t have record of because of the switch to Vitalant, but we are truly thankful for all of you that have made donation a regular part of your lives! “Once again the success of our blood drive depends largely upon our volunteers,” said Kaschmitter. “We honestly could not hold a blood drive without them. I would like to thank the volunteers that helped me before the drive and the day of the drive; Lydia Deiss, Judy Forsman, Kathy Kuther, Joyce Lorentz, Mary Lorentz, Sally Rehder and Colleen Sonnen. Also, a big thank you to the VFW Post 491 for supplying a meal for the Vitalant workers. And last but not least, I want to thank St. Mary’s Hospital for sponsoring this drive, and supplying the maple bars for the donors, and the St. Mary’s Maintenance crew for setting up and taking down chairs and tables.” The next blood drive is scheduled for June 16, 2026; please contact Brenda Kaschmitter at 208-962-2112 or go online at vitalant.org if you would like to make an appointment.
