Lady Pirates win twice
The Prairie Lady Pirates put together their first winning streak of the season as they won twice last week. On Tuesday, April 15, they hosted Lewis County and won 20-10. On Thursday, April 17, they hosted Lapwai and won33-8.
Vs. Lewis County
In the home game against Lewis County, Prairie scored 3 in the bottom of the first to take the lead. They made it 6-0 after 2 innings. In the fourth Lewis County scored 6 to tie the game but Prairie responded with 7 runs in the bottom of the fourth to retake the lead.
Lewis County cut the deficit to 3 at 13-10 in the top of the fifth but Prairie came back with 2 in the bottom of the inning to make it 15-10 after 5.
Prairie held Lewis County scoreless in the top of the sixth and then scored 5 in the bottom of the inning to end the game on the 10-run mercy rule.
Halee Rowland was the starting pitcher and posted zeros in the fist three innings. She ran into trouble in the fourth and Kaylie Lockett came on to finish the game.
The Pirates had 11 hits led by Eric Schlader who had 3 singles and a triple. Lockett had 3 hits with a single, double and triple. Clarice Rehder had a pair of singles while Bailey Key and Maggie Nuxoll each had a single.
Lewis County had 4 hits in the game, 3 singles and a double.

Vs. Lapwai
Prairie completed a season sweep against Lapwai but the game got off to a rocky start.
Rowland again started as pitcher but gave up 3 walks and a double to the first 4 hitters. After getting an out sheKaylie Lockett pitches against Lapwai. walked the next batter on 4 pitches and coach Jeff Martin brought Lockett in from shortstop to pitch. Lockett game up a run scoring single then got an out at the plate as Lapwai tried to score on a passed ball. She got out of the inning with a strikeout. Lapwai led 0-4.
Prairie answered with a huge bottom of the first as the first 19 batters all reached base and 18 of them scored. Grace Uhlenkott led off with a walk and Schlader followed with a walk. Lockett doubled to the fence in center to score both runners and went to third on the throw home. Avery Schacher followed with a triple to the fence in straightaway center, scoring Lockett. Schacher then scored on a passed ball. Rehder, Zoey Behler and Nuxoll all walked. Rehder and Behler each wound up scoring from third on passed balls. Nuxoll wound up making the first out when she stole second but was put out after her foot came off the bag. Kenly Forsmann walked. Bailey Key was hit but a pitch. Uhlenkott then doubled to center to score both Evelyn Gehring, who had gone in as a courtesy runner for Forsmann, the catcher, and Key. Schlader tripled to right to score Uhlenkott. Schlader scored on a passed ball. Lockett walked and Kenna Granger went in as a courtesy runner. Schacher and Rehder walked and Lapwai then changed pitchers. Behler walked and Nuxoll and Forsmann were hit by pitches. Key walked and Uhlenkott was hit by a pitch. After a popup for the second out, Lockett and Schacher were both hit by pitches and Rehder walked. Behler reached on an error and Nuxoll walked. Lapwai then changed back to the original pitcher and after Forsmann walked, they got out of the inning with a groundout. Prairie had scored 21 runs on just 4 hits for a 21-4 lead.
Lapwai scored 2 in the second on 3 walks and 2 hits.
In the second inning the first 10 batters all reached base with just 2 hits. Uhlenkott led off and was hit by a pitch. Schlader was also hit by a pitch. Uhlenkott moved around the bases on wild pitches and scored. Lockett doubled to left with Schlader held up at third. A wild pitch then scored Schlader. Schacher was hit by a pitch and Rehder reached on an error with Granger scoring in Lockett’s place. Behler singled to left to score Schacher. Nuxoll was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Rehder then scored on a wild pitch and Behler then scored on another wild pitch. Forsmann and Key were walked to reload the bases then Uhlenkott was walked to force in Nuxoll with a run. Gehring, running in place of Forsmann, scored on a groundout by Schlader. Lockett then doubled to score both Key and Uhlenkott and make it 31-6.
In the third, Lockett gave up a walk and 2 singles but 2 groundouts and a caught stealing at home got her out of the inning with no runs scored.
Nuxoll led off the bottom of the third with an infield single and Mikayla Rowland, pinch-hitting for Uhlenkott, walked but Prairie was unable to score.
In the top of the fourth Lapwai scored 2 runs on 2 hits and an error to make it 31-8.
Prairie responded with 2 runs in the bottom of the inning. Schacher walked with 1 out and Gehring, pinch-hitting for Rehder, also walked. Behler walked to load the bases. Granger, pinch-hitting for Nuxoll, singled to right to score Schacher and Gehring and make it 33-8.
In the top of the fifth the first Lapwai batter reached on an error. The next hitter lined out to Halee Rowland at short. Rowland then doubled off the runner at first who had taken off on contact. After a 2-out triple, the game ended on a groundout to Behler at third.
Prairie had 9 hits in the game led by Lockett who had 3 doubles and 4 RBI. Schlader had a triple and 2 RBI. Schacher had a triple and 1 RBI. Uhlenkott had a double and 2 RBI. Granger had a single and 2 RBI. Behler had a single and an RBI and Nuxoll had a single.
Rowland pitched 1/3 of an inning and gave up 4 runs on 1 hit with 4 walks. Lockett pitched 4 2/3 innings and gave up 4 runs on 8 hits with 4 walks and 1 hit batsman.
Prairie is now 3-4 on the season and 3-4 in league play.

Erica Schlader also had a first inning triple against Lapwai as the Pirates scored 21 runs in the inning.
