Softball District Tournament starts Monday, May 5 The first two games, played at 3 p.m. are loser out games. It appears that Prairie will be the #5 seed and would play the #4 seed, either Kendrick or C.V. Prairie gets a preview of that game this week as they host C.V. on Thursday and Kendrick on Friday to close out their regular season. The winners will play the top 2 seeds at 5 p.m. Potlatch and Genesee appear to have the top 2 seeds locked down. The tournament continues on Tuesday to determine the top 2 teams. The first and second place teams advance to State as do the first and second place southern Idaho teams. The final two slots at State are determined by MaxPreps rankings. State will be at the Caldwell Quad on May 15-16. Baseball: Prairie lost to C.V. 5-15 Wednesday, April 30 and are eliminated from the District Tournament. However, they are currently ranked #5 in the MaxPreps rankings which gives them a great chance to compete at the super regionals May 9-10 for a chance to advance to State. The top 2 teams from the District 2 and District 3-4 Tournaments will advance to the super regional as well as the next 4 teams ranked highest in the MaxPreps rankings. The two District Champions and the next two highest ranked teams in MaxPreps will host meaning Prairie would very likely travel. With District 2 teams holding the top 5 spots and 6 of the top 7 in the rankings as of May 1, Prairie would likely stay in the area unless they wind up having to play the sourthern Distrrict champion. | COTTONWOOD
