Lady Pirates lose 3
The Prairie Lady Pirates lost 3 home games last week. On Friday, they hosted Genesee in a league game and lost 2-25. They then played Glenns Ferry in a non-league game and lost 6-20. On Saturday the hosted Potlatch in a league game and lost 6-31.
Vs. Genesee
Against Genesee Halee Rowland was the starting pitch. She gave up 1 run in the first inning on an error, 2 walks and a sacrifice fly. Avery Schacher slides into second against Genesee.
Grace Uhlenkott was hit by a pitch leading off the bottom of the first and made it as far as third on a steal and a passed ball but was unable to score.
Genesee scored 6 runs in the second inning on 4 walks, a single and a triple.
In the bottom of the first Prairie scored their first run against Genesee this season. Clarice Rehder drew a leadoff walk and moved to second on a groundout. Zoey Behler reached on an error with Rehder going to third. Rehder scored on a wild pitch.
Genesee added 5 more runs in the third inning, all after Rowland got the first two batters out. A walk, 2 singles, another walk and a triple followed with a wild pitch scoring the fifth run before Rowland got out of the inning with a strikeout.
In the bottom of the third Kaylie Lockett broke up the no-hitter with a single up the middle. Avery Schacher followed with a single. An error on the play led to Lockett trying to score and she was tagged out at the plate.
Lockett went in to pitch in the fourth and gave up a leadoff single then got the next 3 batters outs.
In the bottom of the fourth Rehder reached on an error to lead off the inning. She stole second, went to third on a passed ball and scored on an error as Genesee tried to put her out at third.
The top of the fifth was a disaster for the Pirates as Genesee scored 13 runs. 3 errors, 2 walks and 9 hits led to Genesee’s big inning.
Prairie had 2 hits in the game with Lockett and Schacher each collecting a single. Rehder scored both of Prairie’s runs.
Rowland gave up 12 runs on 5 hits with 8 walks and 2 strikeouts in 3 innings. Lockett pitched 2 innings and gave up 13 runs on 10 hits with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts.

Vs. Glenns Ferry
In the game against Glenns Ferry, the league leader in southern Idaho, Prairie gave up 12 runs in the first inning as the Pilots rolled to a big win.
After that first inning, Prairie was outscored just 6-8 as the Pirates posted 2 runs each in the second, third and fourth innings.
Glenns Ferry added 5 in the second inning and 3 more in the fifth.
Prairie had 5 hits in the game with Schacher and Eric Schlader each collecting a double. Rehder had 2 singles and Zoey Behler also had a single.
Lockett was the starting pitcher but Rowland was put in during the big first inning.

Vs. Potlatch
In the game against Potlatch on Saturday, Potlatch scored 2 in the first but Prairie came right back with 2 in the bottom of the inning.
Potlatch then scored 6 in the second and 17 more in the third to put the game out of reach. They led 29-2 before Prairie added 4 more in the bottom of the fourth.
Rowland and Lockett again split duties in the pitcher’s circle.
Prairie had 6 hits in the game with Schlader collecting a triple while Maggie Nuxoll, Behler, Mikayla Rowland, Rehder and Uhlenkott each had a single.
Prairie is now 3-7 on the season and 3-6 in league play.

After moving to the pitching spot for the final 2 innings against Genesee, Kaylie Lockett made this catch for an out near the Genesee dugout.
