St. John Bosco spring play is 'The Illusion Job'
By Lorie Palmer What has art thefts, intrigue, dancing and a few surprises, as well? It’s “The Illusion Job.”Idaho County Free Press St. John Bosco Academy High School will present “The Illusion Job,” written and directed by drama volunteer Kim Frei, May 1-3. “That’s great — you guys have been working hard and this is looking good,” Frei told students during a scene rehearsal last week. “It’s coming together. Kim is really smart and creative and she has a certain way of seeing things,” assistant director Michael Rehder added. About the play: Stakes are high for the Royal Yorkshire Museum. Teetering on the edge of insolvency, this small museum has the once-in-a-lifetime chance of hosting the biggest archeological find in a century. If all goes well, this could be the breakthrough needed to save the museum and everyone’s jobs. If all goes well... Unfortunately, Britain is also experiencing one of the biggest crime waves in a century, as well. Art theft is at an all-time high and diamond smuggling has exploded due to England’s monopoly on one of the most rare and difficult diamond cuts currently known. Even the internationally-famous and mysterious antiquities thief, known only as La Flamme, is said to be in England. Security has its work cut out for it to keep the Klina Venus statue safe and pull off a successful exhibit, proving the museum worthy of being trusted with the most valuable artifacts. But not everything is as it seems, and the twists and turns never stop in this antiquities heist. With an ending determined by audience vote and six possible endings, the twists and turns could lead almost anywhere… Characters (in order of appearance): Rusty Sterling—Head of Security (suspect): Glenn Parmantier; Tom—Security: Nathan Wassmuth; George—The Butler: Tommy Rose; Heather Van Reijn—Museum Curator: Clare Uhlenkott; Simone—French Chef: Madeline Wassmuth; Blanche—French Maid: Catherine Seubert; Sorenson—Ticket Counter: Simon Hagen; Barbara—Tour Guide: Catherine Beckman; Jackie Payne—Reporter: Rachel Sonnen; Patty—Videographer: Brianne Nuxoll; Cynthia Albright—Wife of the Professor: Cecilia Remacle; Professor Albright: Ignatius Parmantier; Clancey—American Cowboy: Connor Nuxoll; Victoria—College Student: Presley Schoo; Aisha Marat—Antiquities Dealer: Savannah Perrin; Sidney—Director: Julia Wassmuth; Justine—Co-Director: Sarah Waters; Jason—Mechani: Clayton Black; Steve—Props Master: Zachary Murdock; Marcus Stone—Authenticator (suspect): Cody Weckman; Michelle Navy—Archeologist (suspect): Noelle Chmelik; Jerry—Customs Agent: Pierce Frei; Regina DeLuca—Producer: Miah Mager; and Isaiah Goldman—Pinch Hitter Director: Wyatt Crea.
