Lady Pirates' season ends
The Prairie Lady Pirates softball team ended their regular season with a 10-17 loss to Clearwater Valley at Cottonwood on Tuesday, April 28. On Monday, May 4, they lost a loser-out District game to Genesee 1-11 to end their season.
Vs. C.V.
Prior to the game Prairie’s two seniors, Hailey Hanson and Bailey Key were honored along with their families.
Halee Rowland pitched for Prairie and walked 3 of the first 4 batters in the first inning. A groundout scored a run as C.V. took a 0-1 lead. Audrey Warren walked to lead off the bottom of the first. She stole second and scored when Hailey Hanson doubled to left to tie the game. Hanson was then put out on the play trying to advance to third.  Erica Schlader reached on an error then stole second and went to third on an error on the steal attempt. She scored when Kenly Forsmann grounded out to give Prairie a 2-1 lead.
In the second C.V. plated 6 runs on a walk, hit batter, error, single, walk, error, error, walk and wild pitch. Prairie came right back with 6 of their own in the bottom of the inning for an 8-7 lead. Bailey Key singled with 1 out then was forced at second by Mikayla Rowland. Halee Rowland and Warren each walked to load the bases. Hanson reached on an error with Mikayla Rowland scoring. Schlader then emptied the bases with a 3-run triple to right to make it 6-7. Forsmann walked and Behler singled to left to score Schlader. C.V. changed pitchers and Catherine Seubert singled to score Forsmann and make it 8-7.
C.V. had their own 2-out rally in the third. With a runner on and 2 outs, C.V. had a single, walk and 2 more singles for 4 runs as they took an 8-11 lead. Prairie had singles by Halee Rowland and Hanson in the bottom of the third but couldn’t score.
C.V. added 2 more runs in the fourth on 2 walks and 2 singles. Prairie went down in order in the bottom of the inning.
An error, 2 walks and a single in the fifth added two more runs for the Rams. Mikayla Rowland had a 1 out single in the bottom of the inning but was Prairie’s only baserunner.
3 walks and a single in the sixth led to 2 more runs by C.V. In the bottom of the inning Forsmann reached with 1 out on an error and Behler walked before the inning ended on a forceout.
In the seventh Halee Rowland got 2 quick outs then walked the bases loaded before getting out of the inning with a pop-up to Hanson at first. Key led off the bottom of the seventh with a single to center. After an out, Halee Rowland singled and Warren reached on an error to load the bases. Hanson singled to score Rowland. The next two batters were put out to end the game.
Prairie actually outhit the league champion Rams 11-8. Hanson had a double and 2 singles and 3 RBI. Key and Halee Rowland each had 2 singles. Schlader had a triple and 3 RBI. Behler and Seubert each had a single and an RBI and Mikayla Rowland had a single.
Halee Rowland pitched all 7 innings and allowed 17 runs on 8 hits with 2 strikeouts, 2 hit batters and 17 walks.

Vs. Genesee at District
The play-in game against Genesee saw Prairie lose to the Bulldogs for the third time this season. Catherine Seubert scores Prairie's only run against Genesee at District.
They got a good start as Behler was hit by a pitch to lead off the game. She was forced at second by Hanson but Hanson advanced to second and third on a pair of wild pitches. After a second out, Forsmann drew a walk but was called out for leaving base before the first pitch to Seubert. In the bottom of the first Halee Rowland was greeted with a leadoff triple followed by a run scoring single and then a flare that dropped behind second base. After an out, a double scored 2 more runs for a 0-3 Genesee lead.
Seubert drew a walk to lead off the second inning. She moved to second on a passed ball and to third on a groundout by Mikayla Rowland. Key drew a walk and stole second. Seubert scored when the catcher’s throw went for an error. Genesee answered that 1 run with 8 in the bottom of the second. Two walks and a fielder’s choice left runners on first and second as the forceout was at third. An error loaded the bases. A walk scored 1 run and a dropped fly ball in left scored another. A third runs scored on a groundout. 2 more scored on a single. After a walk, the third error of the inning allowed 2 more runs to scored. 2 singles followed with a run scoring each time as Genesee took a 1-11 lead.
Hanson drew a 1-out walk in the third inning and advanced all the way to third on a pair of wild pitches. Schlader then connected well with the ball but her line drive went straight to the second baseman for an out. A strikeout ended the inning. In the bottom of the inning Genesee had a pair of singles but Rowland got out of the inning without any runs scored.
In the fourth Seubert, Mikayla Rowland and Key each walked to load the bases with nobody out. However the next 3 hitters all struck out. In the bottom of the fourth Halee Rowland got the side out in order on 2 fly balls and a strikeout.
In the fifth, Hanson led off with a single to right for Prairie’s only hit of the game. A wild pitch and a passed ball moved Hanson to third but the next 3 batters were all put out to end the game.
Hanson had Prairie’s only hit, a single.
Halee Rowland pitch all 4 innings and gave up 11 runs on 9 hits with 4 walks and 3 strikeouts.
Prairie ends their season with a record of 5-15.
