Lady Pirates win 2 of 4 PHS SOFTBALL SCHEDULE FOR 2025 The Prairie Lady Pirates split their final two regular season games then opened District play. On Thursday, May 1, they lost 9-10 to Clearwater Valley at Cottonwood when the Rams scored 6 runs in the top of the seventh. On Senior Night against Kendrick on Friday, May 2, they held off a rally by the Tigers to win 19-12. Finally on Monday, May 5, they traveled to Genesee where they beat Kendrick 21-11 and then lost to Potlatch 3-17. (They played C.V. on Tuesday, May 6 and lost 6-16 to end their season. Their MaxPreps ranking was one spot too low to qualify them for State. Details on that game next week). Vs. C.V. The game against C.V. was a back and forth game that C.V. made the final rally.The Rams took a 0-2 lead in the first but Prairie came back to tie it in the bottom of the inning. In the third Prairie scored a run to take their first lead at 3-2. C.V. tied it with a run in the fifth but Prairie scored 2 in the bottom of the inning for a 5-3 lead. C.V. closed within 5-4 in the top of the sixth but Prairie scored 4 in the bottom of the inning to take a 9-4 lead into the seventh. That was when things unraveled for the Pirates. They were unable to score in the bottom of the 7th as C.V. held on for an unlikely win. That win clinched third seed into District for the Rams. Prairie outhit the Rams 14-9. Erica Schlader had a single, double and triple to lead the Pirates. Kaylie Lockett had a single and a double and 3 RBI. Maggie Nuxoll also had a single and a double. Halee Rowland had 2 singles. Clarice Rehder had a double and Avery Schacher, Kenly Forsmann, Evelyn Gehring and Grace Uhlenkott each had a single. Kendrick game Prairie honored their 3 seniors before their final home
game. They are Uhlenkott, Rehder and Lockett.![]() Rowland started the game and gave up 2 hits but no runs in the first inning. In the bottom of the first Schlader triple to center field. She scored when Lockett followed with a single to left to make it 1-0. In the second inning, 2 walks and an error put 3 runners on base for Kendrick. However on the error, a dropped popup by Rowland, Rowland was able to throw to second to force the runner from first who had to hold up on the popup. Rowland then got out of the inning with a strikeout and a groundout to first. In the bottom of the second Prairie exploded for 8 runs as they sent 12 hitters to the plate. Forsmann was hit by a pitch to lead off. Kenna Granger went in to run for Forsmann, who is the catcher. Granger stole second and scored on Nuxoll’s 1-out single up the middle. Nuxoll stole second then had to hold there on a comebacker to the pitcher for the second out. 7 straight Prairie hitters reached base after there were 2 outs. Uhlenkott singled to center to center with Nuxoll being held at third. Uhlenkott stole second then Schlader looped a single into the open area behind shortstop to score both Nuxoll and Uhlenkott. Lockett singled and Schacher walked to load the bases. Rehder was hit by a pitch to score Schlader. Forsmann singled to center to score both Lockett and Schacher. She went to second on the throw home. Granger again went in to run. Zoey Behler followed with a single to score both Rehder and Granger and make it 9-0. Kendrick got on the scoreboard in the third inning with a double and 2 singles for 2 runs. Prairie had 2 baserunners in the bottom of the third as Uhlenkott and Schlader were both hit by pitches, but neither was able to score. Kendrick added a run in the fourth on a leadoff single with another single and 2 walks forcing in a run. Prairie answered back with 2 in the bottom of the fourth. Schacher walked to lead off the inning and went to second on a passed ball. Rehder singled to left to score Schacher. Rehder stole second, went to third on a wild pitch and scored on another wild pitch to make it 11-3. In the fifth an error put Kendrick’s first runner on. 2 walks loaded the bases. A strikeout and then a groundout that scored a run followed. Unfortunately Rowland couldn’t get the third out as 2 singles and 2 walks wound up scoring a total of 4 runs as Kendrick closed withing 11-7. Lockett went in to pitch and got out of the inning with a strikeout. Prairie got 2 of those runs back in the bottom of the fifth with a 2-out rally. Lockett singled to left with 2 outs and went to all the way to third as the ball got through the left fielder for an error. Schacher then reached base on a catcher’s interference call. Schacher stole second and then a wild pitch scored Lockett and moved Schacher to third. Another wild pitch scored Schacher to make it 13-7. In the sixth Prairie fans were having déjà vu from the C.V. game the day before as Kendrick plated 5 runs and had the bases loaded with 1 out. Lockett then got a strikeout and a comebacker to get out of the inning with Prairie still on top 13-12. 3 walks, a hit batter, 2 singles and 2 errors led to Kendrick’s 5 runs. Prairie answered back with a 6-run bottom of the sixth. Behler was hit by a pitch leading off and Nuxoll reached on an error. After an out, Uhlenkott was hit and then Schlader cleared the bases with a triple to right center. Lockett followed with a triple over the centerfielder’s head to score Schlader. Schacher singled to score Lockett. Gehring went in as a pinch runner and went to second on a passed ball. Rehder moved Gehring to third with a ground out and Gehring then scored on a wild pitch to make it 19-12. In the seventh Lockett got 2 quick outs then gave up a double. A wild pitch moved the runner to third. An error put another runner on but the runner at third had to hold. Lockett then ended the game with a called third strike. The win enabled Prairie to move up in the standings to the fourth seed giving them the home team advantage in their district opener against Kendrick. Prairie again had 14 hits led by Schlader who had 2 triples and a single and 5 RBI. Lockett had a triple and 3 singles and 2 RBI. Forsmann had 2 singles and 2 RBI. Behler had a single and 2 RBI. Schacher, Rehder and Nuxoll each had a single and an RBI. Uhlenkott also had a single. Rowland pitched 4 2/3 innings and allowed 7 runs on 9 hits with 4 strikeouts and 8 walks. Lockett pitched 2 1/3 innings and allowed 5 runs on 3 hits with 3 strikeouts, 3 walks and 1 hit batsman. Prairie ends their regular season with a record of 5-8, 5-7 in league play. She scored on Schlader’s single to left to make it 1-3.In the second inning a walk and 2 doubles made it 1-5. Forsmann led off the bottom of the second with a double to right. Granger went in to run and went to third on a wild pitch. She scored when Zoey Behler grounded out to make it 2-5. In the third Kendrick made it 2-7 when 2 singles and a dropped fly ball loaded the bases. A walk forced home one run and a second scored on a groundout. Prairie’s bats came alive in the bottom of the third. Lockett clubbed a 1-out double down the third base line and scored on Schacher’s single up the middle. Schacher moved to second on a groundout. Forsmann singled to left to score Schacher. Granger again went in to run. Behler singled to left and Granger scored when Nuxoll singled to left. Rowland was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Uhlenkott was also hit by a pitch to score Behler. Schlader walked to score Nuxoll and tie the score. Lockett then hit a towering popup behind second base that was dropped for an error. The runners were going on contact with 2 outs and both Rowland and Uhlenkott scored to give Prairie their first lead at 9-7. Kendrick answered back in the fourth as they put together their own 2-out rally with 3 singles, 2 doubles and a walk with all but the first single coming after there were 2 outs. They scored 4 runs to make it 9-11. Prairie came right back with another 7-run inning. Rehder led off with an infield single. Forsmann reached on a fielder’s choice when the second baseman dropped the throw for an error. Behler singled to left to score Rehder. Nuxoll walked to load the bases. Rowland singled up the middle to score both Granger, who was again running for Forsmann, and Behler and put Prairie back on top 12-11. After an out, Schlader singled to score Nuxoll. Lockett’s fly ball to left was dropped for an error scoring Rowland. Schacher singled to right to score both Schlader and Lockett and make it 16-11. However Schacher was thrown out trying to advance to second. Rehder looped a single to center then was forced at second to end the inning. In the 5th, Rowland gave up a leadoff walk then got the next 3 hitters. In the bottom of the 5th Prairie needed 5 runs to end the game on the 10-run mercy rule. Behler worked a leadoff walk on a 9-pitch at bat. Nuxoll singled up the middle. A wild pitch moved the runners over. Rowland dropped a flare behind second for a single that scored Behler. Uhlenkott beat out an infield hit with Nuxoll scoring. Schlader singled to left to score Rowland. After an out, Schacher hit a ball to short that went through the wickets into left for an error that ended the game as both Uhlenkott and Schlader scored. Prairie had 18 hits led by Schlader who had 3 singles and 4 RBI. Nuxoll also had 3 singles with an RBI. Forsmann had a double and a single and an RBI. Schacher and Rowland each had 2 singles and 3 RBI. Behler had 2 singles and 2 RBI. Rehder had 2 singles. Lockett had a double and an RBI. Uhlenkott had a single and an RBI as everyone in the starting lineup had at least 1 hit. Rowland pitched all 6 innings and gave up 11 runs on 13 hits with 1 strikeout and 5 walks. and #1 seed Potlatch, Prairie got off to a good start as Uhlenkott led
off with a single to right center. She went to second on a wild pitch,
tagged up and moved to third on Schlader’s fly ball to center and
scored on Lockett’s groundout for a 1-0 lead.However Potlatch came back in the bottom of the first with 4 runs against Rowland on 4 hits and a walk. The aggressive Loggers also had 6 stolen bases in the inning. Rehder led off the second with a single to right but a lineout double play ended that threat. In the bottom of the second the flood gates opened. The first six hitters all reach base on 2 walks, a single, an error, a triple and another single. After the triple coach Jeff Martin moved Lockett to the pitching circle as Rowland was showing obvious fatigue after 6 plus innings. After an out, Potlatch got 3 straight singles then a walk and an error as they rang up 11 runs in the inning for a 1-15 lead. Prairie against was set down in order in the third and in the bottom of the inning faced getting mercy ruled if Potlatch scored 1 more run. Lockett got a groundout then hit a batter. A stolen base and another groundout moved the runner to third with 2 outs. Prairie got out of the inning on a fly ball to right that was caught by Evelyn Gehring who was in right field because regular starter Bailey Key had a broken finger. In the fourth, Schlader led off with a triple to right center and scored on Lockett’s single to left. Mikayla Rowland went in to run for Lockett. After a pair of strikeouts, Forsmann reached on an error to move Mikayla to second. Behler then singled to left to score Rowland and make it 3-15. In the bottom of the fourth Potlatch scored 2 runs on a walk, hit batsman, error and sacrifice fly but couldn’t get the game ending run as Rehder caught a fly ball to center to end the inning at 3-17. Prairie went down in order in the fifth and the game ended on the 10-run mercy rule. Prairie had 5 hits in the game. Schlader had a triple. Lockett had a single and 2 RBI while Behler had a single and an RBI. Uhlenkott and Rehder each had a single. Rowland pitched 1+ innings and allowed 9 runs on 6 hits with 3 walks. Lockett pitched 3 innings and allowed 8 runs on 4 hits with 1 strikeout, 2 walks and 2 hit batsmen. Prairie is now 5-9 on the season.
