The School Board held their May meeting Monday, May 18.
Several new hires were approved. Danica Seubert was approved as an elementary school paraprofessional. Stacy Goicoa was approved as the JV volleyball coach. Kayla Ross was approved as the C team coach. Kenly Forsmann was approved for hire as summer help. The board also approved bus rental rates and per diem rates for the upcoming year. They remain the same as they were this past year. Hot lunch rates were approved with a 25 cent increase. Breakfast rates remain the same. The board approved use of the football equipment for football camp which will be June 12-14 at Montana Tech in Butte, MT. Policies 3010, 3010P and 3010F were discussed with suggested changes approved. These policies deal with open enrollment and superintendent Jon Rehder said the suggested changes were to make them all consistent with each other. Several other policies were presented for first reading. Action was tabled to the June meeting. Rehder discussed the SLP (speech and language pathologist) for 2026-27. He has bids from two companies and is working with a third. He will know by the end of this week which of the three he would recommend. The board gave him the go-ahead to use his best judgment. In administrative reports, Matt Elven reported ISAT testing finished May 4. They are still waiting for statewide results for comparison data. The Dream It, Do It Conference was set for Tuesday, May 19 at LCSC. 57 sophomores and juniors were to take part in break out sessions hosted by local industry and higher education institutions. Spring sport surveys were sent out May 11 and will close on May 29. MAP testing continues through May 27. The FFA awards banquet is set for Thursday, May 21 at the Community Hall. Regional and state track were held recently with 21 athletes participating at State. Anna Francis qualified for state in tennis. She has spent the season competing with Grangeville in a co-op agreement. Upcoming events include the 6th grade tour of the Junior/Senior High School on Thursday. The Prairie League Mother-Daughter Tea on Wednesday, May 20. The Spring Band Concert on Tuesday, May 26. Prairie League Big Sister/Little Sister reveal on Wednesday, May 27; PHS Awards Assembly on May 29. Band Silverwood trip on May 30. FFA career development events on June 2-3. Graduation on June 5. In his report, Rehder said the Elementary Concert will be Friday, May 29 at 1 p.m. Kindergarten Graduation is set for Monday, June 1 at 1 p.m. Field day will be Wednesday, June 3 at 12:30 at the football/track complex. The talent show will be Thursday, June 4 at 9:30 a.m. The end of year awards assembly will be June 4 following the talent show. After the awards are done the end of year BBQ will be held. The Idaho Reading Indicator test finishes this week. ISAT testing also finishes this week. In his facilities report Rehder said the gym floor refinishing will be done at the end of June. Work is set to start on the gym roof and bus entry on June 9. Rick Forsmann will be working on water pipes in the high school later in the summer. The last 4 room of the Elementary School will be carpeted the week of June 9. Track resurfacing is scheduled for June 8-10. Public will not be allowed to use the track during this time and for a week or so afterwards as it needs to sit for awhile before they repaint the lines. In his superintendent’s report Rehder said they are looking at a new evaluation tool. The board adjourned to an executive session at 8 p.m. Next regular meeting is set for Monday, June 15 at 7 p.m. |
