Mudslide closes Highway 95 north of Riggins
On Friday, July 4, Highway 95 was closed at milepost 200.5 due to a landslide. This is north of Riggins and south of Lucile at Fiddle Creek.
A detour for small vehicles was available until 10 p.m. that night when that was closed as the Idaho Transportation Department had a crew in place by that time. They estimated it would take about 24 hours to get the road reopened. On Saturday at about 7 p.m. they were able to open 1 lane with a pilot car leading traffic.
On Sunday it was still limited to 1 lane and finally on Monday, July 7, the road was fully open for traffic again.
The Idaho County Sheriff’s Department wishes to send a big thank you to ITD for working throughout the night and weekend to get the roadway opened up for travelers.
