History to come to life August 2
Mark your calendars for Saturday, August 2,
and make your plans to visit the Museum at St. Gertrude in Cottonwood.
From 1-3 pm, eight Living History characters will tell their 90-second
story to the people wandering past them. Admission will be free, thanks
to the generosity of Cottonwood Community Federal Credit Union. The eight characters you will meet are all portrayed in the two decks of cards crafted by Jerry Johnson with the support of a grant from the Idaho Humanities Council. Jerry will be on hand to answer questions and point out the locations the actors mention on a large map he created for the museum. Guests will meet Moses Milner, (portrayed by Thomas Eier) who built the Milner Trail and named Mt. Idaho; L. P. Brown, (Cody Uptmor) who owned most of the property in Mt. Idaho and got it designated as the county seat; and Jerry Johnson, (Malek Davarpanah) who had the hot springs named after him. Sister Alfreda Elsensohn (Leah Uptmor) and Sister Hildegard Vogler (Jody Davarpanah) will be there, along with a little camas flower (Katie Uptmor) telling how important she was to the people living on the Camas Prairie. Missionary Sue McBeth (Taylor Wilkins) and Cottonwood pioneer Anna Seubert Jenny (Alaina Lustig) will also tell their stories. We will see you there!
The people and things depicted on these cards will be brought to life in a living history event at the Museum at St. Gertrude on Saturday, August 2. ![]() Jody Davarpanaugh portraying Gertrude Maxwell at the 2024 Living History event.
