Living History event set for Saturday Who’s horsing around at St. Gertrude’s? It’s our black-hatted prioress, Sr. Teresa Jackson, straw-hatted subprioress, Sr. Janet Barnard and Sr. Carlotta, getting into the spirit of the Wild West with our new stagecoach photo prop! They are holding the cards of the characters who will be telling their stories in the museum. Come join the fun on Saturday, August 2 from 1–3 p.m. during our Living History afternoon. There will be characters in costume throughout the museum — and out front, this stagecoach will be waiting with hats, mustaches, and props for your own Old West moment! Don’t miss this chance to step back in time (and snap a great photo while you’re at it)! Thanks to the generosity of the Cottonwood Community Federal Credit Union, no admission will be charged during the event. ![]() Sr. Carlotta, Sr. Janet Barnard and Sr. Theresa Jackson get into the wild west spirit for this Saturday’s Living History event at the Historical Museum at St. Gertrude. The photos below are from last year's event. ![]() With the Museum running another Living History event this Saturday, August 2, we thought we’d revisit some of the characters from last year. Above isLeah Uptmor as Charlotte Mae Pierstorff, the young lady who was “mailed” from Grangeville to Lewiston to visit her grandmother. She was designated as a “baby chick” and mailed on the train. Going as mail was much less expensive than purchasing a train fare. Not too long after that the US Postal Service outlawed sending people as mail. ![]() Malak Davarpanagh portrayed Ladd Arnoti at last year’s Living History event. He was chosen in part due to his own thick eastern European accent which is very similar to Arnoti’s. He is standing in front of the museum’s display honoring Arnoti including the trunk all the family belongings were put in when they came to the U.S. ![]() Mary Funke portrayed Sr. Radegunda Bischofberger, the last survivor of the original 96 Swiss nuns that established St. Gertrude’s Monastery.
Beth Forsmann portrayed Lee Morse, a famous singer who was originally from Kooskia at last year’s Living History event at the Museum. |
