On September 8, 1936, Don was born at Westlake in the house he grew up in, to Al and Edna (Graham) Johnston, the oldest of four children. In 1963, he married Karen Moe, and they made their home in Craigmont, where their two children attended all 12 years of school. Since Karen’s death in 2020, Don has continued to live in Craigmont.
For years, Don ran Johnston’s Backhoe Service, and he occasionally still uses his skill to dig a hole or two. After his service in the US Army, Don joined the Craigmont American Legion and continues to attend meetings. Another organization he joined was the Jay-Cees, which later became the Greater Craigmont Area Chamber of Commerce. Don still belongs to the Chamber and recently served as its president.
We hope you can join us in celebrating this incredible milestone! Cake, snacks, coffee, and lemonade will be served.
Your presence is the greatest gift. If you’d like, please bring a favorite photo or memory to share with Don.
