Lady Pirates rally to win at Logos
The Prairie Lady Pirates opened their season with a league match against Logos at Moscow. They had to rally from down 2 sets for a 13-25, 23-25, 27-25, 25-19, 15-9 win.
Logos started the first set by taking a 0-3 lead. A kill each by Kylie Schumacher and Mia Anderson plus an ace by Kennedy Riener tied it at 3. Kylie Schumacher came alive at the net in the final 3 games at Logos helping Prairie rally from a 0-2 deficit to win in 5. Also shown is Avery Riener.
A kill by Beka Schumacher tied it again after Logos had scored a sideout.
Logos then took the lead for good with a 7-point scoring run that made it 6-14. A kill by Kennedy Riener and an ace by Kylee Riggers made it 8-14 but that was as close as Prairie would get as Logos scored the next 3 for a 9-point lead and pulled away to win by 12.
A free ball kill by Kylie Schuamcher scored the first point of the second set. After Logos tied it, Kennedy Riener scored a kill for a 2-1 lead. Logos then took back the lead with 4 straight points and lead by as many as 5 at 5-10.
Prairie rallied back within 1 after Avery Riener served 2 aces to make it 11-12.
After a trade of sideouts, Kennedy Riener served Prairie to an 18-13 lead. Beka Schumacher had 2 kills, Kylie Schumacher had a kill and a block and Kennedy served 2 aces.
Logos scored 3 straight to pull within 2 but a bricked served and 2 aces by Kylie Schumacher made it 21-16 Prairie. Logos then scored 4 straight to make it 21-20. A kill by Beka Schumacher made it 22-20 but Logos then scored 4 straight to get to set point at 22-24.
Avery Riener scored a kill to get within 1 but a missed jump serve ended the set in Logos’ favor.
In the third set it started off like it was going to be a sweep for the Knights as Prairie fell behind 4-9, 5-12 and 8-17.
A kill by Kylie Schumacher sent Avery Riener to the service line for 3 straight points. She had an ace while Kylie and Kennedy each added a kill to get within 5 at 12-17.
Logos was able to hold off Prairie as they took a 16-22 lead. A kill by Riggers put Anderson on the service line. A kill by Beka Schumacher, a block by Riggers and an ace by Anderson cut the deficit to 20-22.
After a Logos sideout, Beka Schumacher slammed a spike off a block to make it 21-23.
At this point Prairie picked up a point that we didn’t catch as all of a sudden the score was tied at 23-23 after a kill by Riggers. An ace by Beka Schumacher had it 24-23.
Logos then scored a sideout and served an ace to get to 24-25. A kill by Avery Riener tied it and Riggers then served out the set as Kylie Schumacher won a joust at the net and Kennedy Riener scored the set winning kill.
Prairie had a bit of a let down after pulling that game out as they fell behind 0-3 to start the next set. A block by Kylie Schumacher, an ace by Avery Riener and a kill be Kylie tied it at 3. Logos then scored the next 3 points and eventually led 7-12.
A kill by Beka Schumacher and 2 jump serve aces by Beka made it 10-12. After 2 sideouts, Kylie Schumacher won a joust at the net to make it 12-13. After a Logos sideout and then a bricked serve, Avery Riener had a big serving run. She served Prairie from a 13-14 deficit to a 19-14 lead. She had 3 aces while Kennedy Riener had 2 kills and Kylie Schumacher scored on a block.
Logos scored 3 straight to get within 2 before bricking a serve. Kennedy Riener served 2 aces and Beka Schumacher added a kill to make it 23-17. After a Logos sideout, Kylie Schumacher slammed a spike off of a block to get to set point. Logos scored a sideout but Harlee Hansen then scored the set-winning kill to force game 5.
Avery Riener served an ace to open the fifth set but then Logos took the lead. Prairie tied it a 3 and again at 4. Logos took leads of 4-6 and 5-7.
A free ball sideout kill by Avery Riener sent Riggers to the service line. Riggers used her jump serve to give Prairie control of the set. Kylie Schumacher scored a kill to tie it at 7-7. An ace by Riggers gave Prairie the lead. A kill by Kylie forced a Logos timeout. Another ace by Riggers was followed by another kill by Kylie and then another ace by Riggers to make it 12-7. After another Logos timeout the Knights were able to score a sideout.
A slam by Kylie Schumacher and a spike down the sideline by Kennedy Riener put Prairie at match point at 14-8. Logos scored a sideout but Kylie Schumacher then closed out the match with a kill.
Kylie Schumacher had 17 kills, including 3 blocks. It seemed like most of those kills came in the final 2 sets. She also had 4 assists and 3 aces. Beka Schumacher had 16 kills, 2 assists and 3 aces. Kennedy Riener had 9 kills and 6 aces. Avery Riener had 5 kills, 22 assists and 8 aces. Riggers had 4 kills, including a block, 1 assist and 5 aces. Anderson had 2 kills, 9 assists and 1 ace. Sierra Oliver had 2 kills and 4 assists. Hansen had 1 kill and 1 ace. Capri Hagen had 10 assists.
Prairie is now 1-0 on the season and 1-0 in league play.
Logos won the JV match 24-26, 18-25, 8-15.
The opening game was the JVs best chance at a win. Logos scored first but Prairie took their first lead on an ace by Macie Uhlenkott.
The lead changed hands a couple times with Prairie taking a 2-point lead after Zoey Behler served and ace and Halee Rowland scored a kill to make it 8-6.
Prairie took a 3-point lead after 2 aces by Behler that made it 17-14. Prairie also led by 3 at 21-18 after an ace by Rowland.
Logos then came back to take a 22-24 lead. A dig kill by Rowland and an ace by Erica Schlader tied it at 24-24. However Logos scored the side out then scored an ace to win the set.
In the second set Prairie scored first but Logos came back for a 1-3 lead. A kill by Alli Rambo scored a sideout. Then Faith Cash scored a second touch kill and Rowland served an ace for a 4-3 lead.
After another kill by Cash and a kill by Tinley Hibbard, Prairie led 6-4. They took their biggest lead of the set at 9-5 after a kill by Audry Warren and 2 aces by Schlader.
Logos answered with 6 straight points and put together a 5-13 run to take a 14-18 lead. They went on to win by 7 to clinch the match.
In the third game Prairie fell behind 1-6. They were able to get back within 3 at 5-8 but that was as close as they would get.
Logos also won the C match 25-18, 11-25, 12-15.

Kylee Riggers used her jump serve to turn a game 5 deficit into a 12-7 lead with a 6-point service run.

Avery Riener missed her first two serves of the match then was good on 23 straight to finish the match.
