Letters to the editor from this week's Chronicle

Down go the Pirates
Recently, Principal Matt Elven and Superintendent Jon Rehder told Lewiston Tribune reporter Sam Taylor, “We’re just hoping to move forward and find coaches that put kids first” (Tribune, June 13). This was after convincing the school board to fire three of Prairie High School’s coaches.
Because volleyball coach Julie Shumacher and basketball coach Lori Mader were fired with no notice or reason, the following activities will not happen for the Prairie volleyball and basketball girls. Volleyball: no Frog Spike camp or Dusk to Dawn fundraiser. Basketball:, no summer league or Duck Race fundraiser.
Last year the Duck Race raised $11,400 for the team. Summer league basketball and Spike Frog camp keep the girls sharp with their skills. Both coaches volunteer their times for these activities.
Elven and Rehder have taken these away. Is this how you put the kids first? Down, down, down go the Pirates.
