Lady Patriots lose twice
The St. John Bosco Lady Patriots opened their season with a pair of home league losses. On Tuesday, Aug. 26, they were swept by Deary 17-25, 17-25, 10-25.
On Thursday, Aug. 28, they were swept by Nezperce 14-25, 16-25, 13-25.
Vs. Deary
Against Deary Cece Remacle served an ace for a 1-0 Bosco lead. Deary came back with 2 straight points before bricking a serve. Savannah Perrin scored a kill to give Bosco a 3-2 lead then Deary reeled off 9 straight points for a 3-11 lead.
After a trade of sideouts, Deary score 4 more for a 4-16 lead.
Catherine Beckman scored a pair of kills to get Bosco to 6 points. An ace by Presley Schoo and a kill by Catherine Seubert made it 8-17. Bosco was unable to get much close as they wound up losing by 8.
Deary bricked the opening serve of the second set and Remacle served 3 aces for a 4-0 Bosco lead. Deary scored 3 straight to get back in the game but Bosco was able to hold onto the lead until Deary scored a sideout at 10-7 and scored 6 straight points.
Deary later had a 5-point run to built an 8-point lead and then held the lead at 7-9 points until the end of the set.
A kill and a block by Perrin opened the third set with a 2-0 lead by Bosco. A dig kill by Wassmuth made it 3-1.
Deary then out scored the Patriots 1-6 for a 4-7 lead. Bosco was able to keep it fairly close until Deary closed out the game with a 1-11 run. The only Bosco point in the run was a sideout kill by Perrin that made it 10-17. Deary then scored the final 8 points of the match.
Perrin had 11 kills including a block plus 1 assist and 3 aces. Beckman had 7 kills. Wassmuth had 6 kills and 6 assists. Remacle had 2 kills, 16 assists and 3 aces. Miah Mager had 2 kills and 1 assist. Seubert had 1 kill and 1 ace. Schoo had 1 ace.
Bosco also lost the JV match 14-25, 19-25.
They took an early lead when Madeline Wassmuth served 3 straight aces for a 4-2 lead. After a sideout, Catherine Seubert scored a kill and Maggie Black served an ace for a 6-3 lead.
They took their biggest lead after a sideout kill by Catherine Beckman and an ace by Seubert that made it 8-4.
Deary then answered with 5 straight points to take an 8-9 lead before missing a serve. Deary then got a pair of 5-point service runs as they pulled away to win by 11.
Wassmuth again gave Bosco the early lead in the second set with 3 straight scores. A block by Beckman and a kill by Black made it 5-0. Bosco held the lead until a  4-point run by Deary turned a 13-11 lead into a 13-15 deficit. After a sideout by Bosco, Deary answered with a sideout and then served 4 straight aces to take a 6-point lead at 14-20. At 15-23, Wassmuth scored a kill and Remacle then served 3 straight points, 2 of them aces to make it 19-23. A missed spike and an ace by Deary then ended the match.
Vs. Nezperce
The only information we have on the match against Nezperce is the scores listed above.
Once St. John Bosco gets their NFHS camera online we should be able to see the matches when we have a conflict and have more details.
Bosco is now 0-2 on both the season and in league play.
