Lady Patriots win 1 of 2
The St. John Bosco Lady Patriots split a pair of home league matches last week and then traveled to Weippe for the Timberline Tournament.
On Tuesday, Sept. 2, they swept Highland at Cottonwood 25-17, 25-22, 25-18 for their first win of the season. On Thursday, Sept. 4, they hosted Timberline and got swept 22-25, 21-25, 18-25. On Saturday, Sept. 6, they traveled to Timberline for the Timberline Tournament.
Vs. Highland
Against Highland the Patriots fell behind 0-2. A bad serve followed by an ace by Cece Remacle tied it. A kill by Savannah Perrin gave Bosco their first lead.
After Highland tied it, Perrin scored on a block and Miah Mager served 2 aces for a 6-3 lead.
The set stayed close until Madeline Wassmuth scored a kill to make it 9-6 and then went back to serve. Remacle scored a kill, Wassmuth served 3 aces and Catherine Beckman scored a block for a 14-6 lead.
After a sideout, Catherine Seubert scored a kill and Remacle went back to serve. Wassmuth scored a kill and then Remacle served 2 aces for an 18-7 lead.
Highland scored a sideout and added a point then missed a serve. Beckman then serve Bosco to the brink as she served 3 aces and Perrin added to kills to make it 24-9.
After a sideout, Bosco appeared to win it on a missed served but the Patriots were called for being out of rotation. After getting away with a bad serve, Highland’s Amiya Wagenmann then served 6 more points to cut the deficit to 24-17 before Bosco finally got the set-winning point on a kill by Perrin.
Highland again scored first in the second game. Bosco came back though on a kill and then 3 straight aces by Perrin for a 5-2 lead.
Highland rallied back and scored a sideout to make it 6-5. Sheradyn Stamper then served 9 straight points including 5 aces to give Highland a 6-14 lead before she missed a serve.
Bosco traded mostly points with Highland but managed to gain  1 or 2 along the way. Two aces by Mager cut the deficit to 14-17. An ace by Perrin and a kill be Wassmuth cut it to 17-18.
Highland was unable to retake the lead though until lat. A bad serve sent Seubert to the service line at 20-22. A kill by Mager and an ace by Seubert tied it at 22. Beckman then won a joust at the net to give Bosco the lead. Seubert then got a point on a net violation and Beckman added the set-winning kill as Seubert served the set’s final 5 points.
Highland scored first in the third set but missed a serve to tie it. Remacle served an ace and Perring scored a kill to make it 3-1.
Highland then came back to take a 4-7 lead. A kill each by Seubert and Beckman and an ace by Perrin tied it at 7.
Highland then rebuilt their lead to 5 at 9-14.
A kill by Beckman and a net violation cut the deficit to 11-14. After a sideout, Wassmuth and Perrin each scored a kill and Remacle served an ace to make it 14-15.
After another sideout, Wassmuth scored on a kill that went Mager to the service line. 6 straight aces later Bosco had a 21-16 lead.
Highland got back within 3 at 21-18 before bricking a serve. Perrin then served 2 aces to get to match point and Seubert then scored the match winning kill.
Perrin had 10 kills including a block plus 8 aces. Beckman had 7 kills including a block and 3 aces. Seubert had 5 kills and an ace. Wassmuth had 4 kills, 10 assists and 4 aces. Remacle had 1 kill, 8 assists and 6 aces. Mager had 1 kill and 10 aces.
Vs. Timberline
In the home match against Timberline we have just the scores listed above.
Timberline Tournament
At the Timberline Tournament they played 1 game to 30 in pool play. They opened with a 10-30 loss to the Orofino JV. They then battled Nezperce before losing 33-35. They then lost to Deary 25-30. Finally they played Highland in a best 2 out of 3 match. They won the first game 27-25, then lost 26-28 and 12-15 as Highland gained a measure of revenge for the loss to the Patriots earlier in the week.
