Lady Pirates win 1 of 3
The Prairie Lady Pirates won their home opening match against Lapwai Tuesday, Sept. 9 in 4 sets, 25-17, 22-25, 25-9, 25-20. On Monday, Sept. 15, they traveled to Beka Schumacher follows through on a spike against Lapwai. Also shown are Kylee Riggers and Mia Anderson.Genesee where they lost to Genesee 25-14, 25-18, 25-13 and to Potlatch 25-15, 25-19, 25-18.
Vs. Lapwai
In the match against Lapwai, Prairie started slowly as they fell behind 1-4. They finally took their first lead at 7-6 when Mia Anderson tipped the ball over in 2.
Lapwai answered back with 2 straight then Prairie got a kill from Avery Riener, 2 aces from Beka Schumacher and a kill from Kennedy Riener to take an 11-8 lead.
Lapwai came back to tie it at 15 but then missed a serve to put Prairie on top for good. Kylee Riggers scored on a tip and Anderson served an ace to make it 18-15.
After Lapwai got back within 1, Prairie then served out the set. Avery Riener scored a sideout kill and then Beka Schumacher served 6 straight. She had 2 aces while Kennedy Riener had 2 kills and Avery Riener added a kill. Riggers scored the set-winning kill.
Prairie was unable to take that set-ending momentum into the next set as Lapwai jumped out to a 0-5 lead.
Lapwai led by as many as 8 at 5-13 and 7-16.
Prairie fought their way back as Kylie Schumacher scored a kill and Kennedy Riener scored 2 kills to cut the deficit to 5.
After 3 straight sideouts, Beka Schumacher slammed a spike to send Kylie Schumacher to the service line. A kill by Beka and a back row kill by Kylie plus 2 aces by Kylie cut the deficit to just 1 at 16-17.
Lapwai then scored 3 straight to lead by 4. Four straight kills by Beka Schuamcher plus an ace by Anderson gave Prairie what turned out to be their only lead of the set at 21-20.
Lapwai then took back control scoring 5 of the next 6 points to even the match at 1 set each.
Prairie turned things around in the third set as they never trailed. After a 1-1 start, Kylie Schumacher scored 2 straight kills to give Prairie a 3-1 lead. After a sideout, Kylie Schumacher added a sideout kill and then served 3 straight points. She had an ace while Riggers scored a pair of kills for a 7-2 lead.
After a Lapwai sideout, Anderson scored on a block and then Beka Schumacher and Riggers each scored a kill for a 10-3 lead.
After another Lapwai sideout, a kill by Beka Schumacher and then two aces by Beka made it 13-4.
After a trade of bad serves there was confusion on a point and a re-serve was called. Riggers then served an ace and was off on an 8-point service run. Kylie Schumacher scored 3 kills including a block while Riggers served 3 more aces and Kennedy Riener added a kill for a 22-5 lead.
Lapwai then scored 3 straight before a kill each by Kylie Schumacher and Kennedy Riener made it 24-9. Lapwai fought off 1 set point before Sierra Oliver scored the set winner on a free ball from the back row.
A kill by Kylie Schumacher opened the fourth set with a kill but Lapwai then took the lead.
A block by Anderson tied it then Kylie Schumacher served an ace for the lead. Harlee Hansen followed with a kill and a block and then Kylie served another ace to make it 7-3.
Lapwai then rallied to tie at 8 and again at 9 before taking a 10-13 lead.
A kill by Kennedy Riener put her sister Avery on the service line. After another kill by Kennedy, Avery served 2 aces and Kylie Schumacher scored a block for a 15-13 lead.
Lapwai again tied the set at 16 before a kill by Anderson put Prairie back on top.
Kylie Schumacher served an ace to make it 18-16.

Lapwai scored the next 2 points before Oliver scored a back row kill to get to set point. Hansen then served an ace for the winner.
Kylie Schumacher wound up with 16 kills, including 4 blocks. She also had 3 assists and 7 aces. Beka Schumacher had 14 kills including a block plus 2 assists and 7 aces. Kennedy Riener had 12 kills and 4 assists.
Anderson had 9 kills, including 2 blocks plus 5 assists and 3 aces. Avery Riener had 6 kills 22 assists and 2 aces. Riggers had 5 kills and 4 aces. Hansen had 4 kills, including an block and 1 ace. Oliver had 3 kills and 1 assist. Capri Hagen had 17 assists.
Prairie also won the JV game 25-16, 25-21.
After giving up the first point, Halee Rowland scored a kill and Faith Cash served Prairie to a 4-1 lead with 2 aces plus another kill by Rowland.
After Lapwai pulled within1 at 5-4, Alli Rambo scored a sideout kill and then served 2 aces for an 8-4 lead.
Lapwai again pulled within 1 at 12-11 before another sideout kill by Rowland. With Cash serving, Rowland and Rambo each scored a kill. Then Cash served 2 aces to make it 17-11.
The rest of the set was mostly sideouts with Prairie scoring the only 3 points on serve, a kill by Tinley Hibbard and Zoey Behler and a set-winning ace by Macie Uhlenkott.
Cash served Prairie to a 3-0 lead in the second set with 2 aces plus a kill by Rowland.
Lapwai then scored 6 straight points to take the lead.
Prairie tied it at 6 on 2 aces by Rowland and again at 7 on a back row kill by Uhlenkott.
Hibbard served an ace to put Prairie back on top. After Lapwai tied it at 8, a kill by Rambo put Prairie on top for good.
2 more kills by Rambo and an ace by Audrey Warren put Prairie up 13-9.
Lapwai was able to get back within 2 at 15-13 but a kill be Cash and an ace by Rowland put Prairie back on top by 4.
Lapwai once more got within 2 at 22-20. A kill by Behler scored the sideout and Cash served an ace to get to match point. Lapwai fought the first one off before Erica Schlader scored the match winning kill.
The C team made it a clean sweep with a 25-9, 25-15 win over the Wildcats.
At this point all we have are the scores against Genesee and Potlatch.
After the 3 matches Prairie is now 2-2 in league play and 2-3 overall.
