Letters to the editor from this week's Chronicle

To the Editor
I received my application for an absentee ballot today.
It is interesting that H0560, a bill in the 2026 Legislative session that was unanimously approved by both the state house and senate and signed into law by governor Little, uses taxpayer funds to bribe voters to do polling work on election day instead of Jury duty.
This bill was classified as an emergency so that it would take effect this coming election.
How does one poll an absentee ballot?
Yet there was no bill brought before our representatives concerning stopping mail-in ballots.
If you are voting this coming November, great!
If you want your vote to be polled and counted, don’t file as an absentee.
There is a reason a single consistent day is declared to cast your vote.
There is a reason laws were passed to prevent anyone, even law enforcement, from interfering with you getting to your polling place.
There is a reason we used to use paper ballots and the votes were counted at the precinct with results available by the next day if not sooner.
This data was brought to you by the LawVoteTool which you can use for free at  https://lawvotetool.onrender.com/LawVoteTool.html
Check it out and be an informed voter!
