Shears finishes 1st at Spartan Invite, breaks school record at Lewiston meet The Prairie Cross Country team competed at two meets last week. On Tuesday, Sept. 30 they traveled to Deyo Reservoir for the Spartan Invite. On Saturday, Oct. 4, they traveled to the Lewiston Orchards for the Inland Empire Meet. Shears had a time of 22:22.12. Gehring’s time was 23:38.75. Ella McLeod
finished 11th in 27:47.14 in her first action of the season after fighting injuries. Callie Remacle was 13th in 28:37.03. Aubree Riener finished 16th in 30:22.43. Lillianne Lustig was 19th in 31:44.69. Bella Musick was 23rd in 33:55.61.The boys team was second behind Troy in the team competition. Chase VonBargen was 8th in 20:39.76. Matthew Jones was 12th in 22:12.15. Gabe DeCaria was 26th in 26:25.59. Landon Riener was 27th in 27:27.10. Phineas Fitch, in his first action of the season was asked to take it easy and finished 29th in 27:41.82. In the junior high races Madalynn VonBargen was 6th in the girls race in 14:49.59. The boys junior high team finished 4th in the team competition behind Troy, Timberline and Lincoln Middle School of Clarkston. Cameron McLeod was the top finisher for Prairie with a 3rd place finish in 11:29.10. Koyle Jones was 9th in 12:41.95. Aiden DeLorenze was 28th in 15:50.48. Isaac Riener was 29th in 15:58.61. Eli Duman was 31st in 16:20.95. Moses Musick was 36th in 21:09.40. Inland Empire Meet At the Inland Empire Meet in the Lewiston Orchards on Saturday, Sydney Shears was Prairie’s top finisher with a 10th place finish in the girls JV race. She set a new school record of 21:00 for a 5 K race breaking Ciara Chaffee’s record of 21:02. Evelyn Gehring placed 29th in 22:38. Aubree Riener was 62nd in 25:00 and Bella Musick was 86th in 28:50. In the boys JV race Chase VonBargen was the top finisher with a 42nd place in 18:06. Matthew Jones was 63rd in 19:19. Phineas Fitch was 103rd in 21:37. Gabe DeCaria was 119th in 22:45. Landon Riener was 134th in 25:24. Kade Hansen started the race but was unable to finish. As a team the boys placed 11th out of 14 teams with 318 pts. In the junior high girls race Madalynn VonBargen placed 12th in 12:10. In the junior high boys race Cameron McLeod placed 3rd in 9:00 over the 2500 meter course. Usually junior high races are 3000 meters. Koyle Jones was 8th in 9:35. Isaac Riener was 23rd in 11:08. Eli Duman was 28th in 11:29. Aiden DeLorenze was 33rd in 11:57 and Moses Musick was 46th in 15:30. As a team the boys placed third out of 4 school with at least 5 runners to field a team with 61 points. The final two meets before District are the Prairie Invite this Thursday, Oct. 9 at 4 p.m. and the Genesee Invite next Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 4 p.m. ![]() Sydney Shears nears the finish at the Inland Empire Meet in Lewiston.
