Prairie hosts cross country meet
Sydney Shears finished in first place in the high school girls race at the Pirate Run cross country meet hosted by Prairie Thursday, Oct. 9.
Shears had a time of 21:44.81 to win the race and led Prairie to a first place team finish with 23 points. Grangeville was second with 32.
Evelyn Gehring finished 4th in 23:43.80. Ella McLeod was 8th in 26:00.16. Callie Remacle was 10th in 26:45.39. Aubree Riener was 12th in 28:13.41. Lillianne Lustig was 18th in 30:09.54 and Bella Musick was 21st in 35:00.79. It was the first time all 7 runners had competed in the same race this season.
Chase VonBargen was Prairie’s top finisher in the boys high school race as he finished 8th in 19:32.32. Matthew Jones was 10th in 20:03.97. Phineas Fitch was 14th in 20:41.29. Gabe DeCaria was 29th in 23:55.00. Kade Hansen was 30th in 24:08.46 and Landon Riener was 31st in 24:59.70.
As a team the boys finished 3rd with 47 points behind Troy and Grangeville, who each had 39 points with Troy getting the first place nod as their 6th runner finished higher than Grangeville’s.
Cameron McLeod was the top finisher for the boys junior high team as he placed 3rd in 9:45.18. Koyle Jones was 6th in 10:11.49. Isaac Riener was 14th in 12:06.77. Aiden DeLonrenze was 16th in 12:09.84. Eli Duman was 19th in 12:25.41 and Moses Musick was 23rd in 13:49.95.
As a team they finished in second place with 42 points behind Troy.
In the girls junior high race Madalynn VonBargen placed 3rd in 12:40.94.
Prairie’s last regular season meet was this past Tuesday, Oct. 14 at Genesee. The District meet is at the Lewiston Orchards course near the new Lewiston High School on Tuesday, Oct. 21 with the girls race tentatively set for 2 p.m. followed by the boys race about 45 minutes later.
