Cottonwood man is arrested
On October 4, 2025, Idaho County Dispatch received a report of an abandoned vehicle involved in significant property damage in the area of Lake Road and Canyon Road, just outside of Grangeville.
Upon investigation, an Idaho County deputy responded and located the vehicle in a nearby field. The vehicle’s airbags had deployed, and the front bumper was discovered in a plowed field across Canyon Road. Tire tracks were found throughout cultivated fields on both sides of the road, which had been prepared for planting. The investigation revealed that approximately 600 acres of agricultural land had been damaged, with losses estimated at over $6,500.
Following a detailed review of the case in coordination with the Idaho County Prosecutor’s Office, a felony arrest warrant was issued on October 7, 2025.
On October 7, 2025, Tristin Staneart, age 22, of Cottonwood, ID, was arrested for felony malicious injury to property. He was also cited for misdemeanor reckless driving, misdemeanor leaving the scene of a damage accident, misdemeanor driving without privileges and an infraction for operator failed to register.
