Lady Pirates season ends at District The Prairie Lady Pirates ended their regular season with a Senior Night win over Clearwater Valley, 25-10, 25-23, 26-28, 25-11 Tuesday, Oct. 14 at Cottonwood. On Saturday, Oct. 18, they opened District play at Genesee as the #6 seed and lost to #3 seeded Kamiah 11-25, 12-25, 21-25. They then played Kendrick in a loser-out match and won 25-10, 25-23, 18-25, 25-15. Finally on Monday, Oct. 20, they played Lapwai in a loser out match at the LCSC Activity Center and lost 17-25, 23-25, 25-14, 13-25 to end their season. Senior Night vs C.V. Seniors Kylie Schumacher, Avery Riener and Sierra Oliver were honored prior to the match against C.V.![]() In the match C.V. scored the first point on a missed Prairie serve, then Prairie scored the next 6. C.V. netted their serve then Kennedy Riener served 3 aces and Kylie Schumacher added a kill and a block for a 6-1 lead. At 7-3, Harlee Hansen scored a sideout kill and Erica Schlader followed with an ace. Hansen scored a block and a kill and Schlader added 2 mores aces for a 13-3 lead. C.V. got back within 15-7 then Kennedy Riener scored a kill, Hansen served an ace and Kylie Schumacher scored a kill for an 18-7 lead. After a sideout, Kylie scored a kill and Avery Riener served 2 aces to make it 21-8. A block and after a sideout a kill by Kylie Schumacher and a kill by Beka Schumacher gave Prairie the first set. C.V. bricked a serve to start the second set and Avery Riener served 2 aces for a 3-0 lead. C.V. then came back with 4 straight to take their first lead since it was 0-1 in the first set. Two sideouts later it was 4-5 when Kylie Schumacher scored a kill to tie. She then served Prairie to a 10-5 lead with 2 aces while Beka Schumacher scored 2 kills and Avery Riener added another. At 13-8, Hansen scored a sideout kill and then Kennedy Riener scored 2 kills and Beka Schumacher served an ace for a17-8 lead. C.V. then fought their way back to a 19-17 deficit before missing a serve. A kill by Kylie Schumacher, an ace by Avery Riener and an under the net violation gave Prairie a 23-17 lead. After a sideout, Kylie Schumacher scored on a push tom make it 24-18. C.V. then fought off 4 straight set points before bricking a serve to give Prairie a 25-22 win. In the third set new head coach Madison Shears put several subs in. Avery Riener served Prairie to a 4-0 lead with 4 aces. C.V. then answered back to take a 6-8 lead. They held the lead until Hansen served 3 straight aces to give Prairie a 13-12 lead. Prairie either held the lead or it was tied until it was 23-23. C.V. bricked a serve to give Prairie a match point chance. C.V. tied it with a tip and then took the lead. A kill by Halee Rowland tied it and an ace by Schlader gave Prairie another match point chance. A hitting error tied it and C.V. scored 2 kills to win and force a fourth set. C.V. then took leads of 0-3 and 1-4 before bricking a serve. Sierra Oliver then served 5 aces and Kylie Schumacher added a kill for an 8-4 lead. After a sideout, Beka Schumacher scored back to back kills and Kylie served an ace to make it 11-5. It was 13-9 when Schlader scored a kill and Hansen followed with 2 aces. Kennedy Riener added a kill and Tori Shears scored on a dig to make it 18-9. After 2 sideouts, Schlader scored a kill and Oliver then served out the match. Beka Schumacher had 2 kills, Kylie Schumacher added another and Oliver had 2 aces, including match point. For the match Kylie Schumacher had 11 kills, including 2 blocks with 3 assists and 4 aces. Beka Schumacher and Kennedy Riener each had 8 kills and 3 aces. Hansen had 6 kills, including a block, plus 1 assists and 8 aces. Schlader had 4 kills, 18 assists and 4 aces. Rowland had 4 kills. Avery Riener had 2 kills, 11 assists and 9 aces. Tori Shears had 2 kills and 1 assist. Bekah Shears had 1 kill. Oliver had 7 aces. Zoey Behler had 2 assists. Prairie ended their regular season with a record of 6-10, 6-8 in league play. They were in a 3-way tie for 4th in league but were the #6 seed to District due to Lapwai and Logos holding the edge in tiebreakers. The JV team ended their season with a 25-8, 25-16, 15-4 sweep of C.V. Faith Cash served Prairie to a 6-0 lead in the opening set with 4 aces plus 2 kills by Halee Rowland. Rowland served 3 aces to make it 10-3. Alli Rambo later served 5 straight for a 17-5 lead. She had 1 ace while Zoey Behler had 2 kills and Cash, Bekah Shears and Tinley Hibbard added 1 each. Shears served 4 straight, including 2 aces to give Prairie a 21-7 lead. Macie Uhlenkott wound up serving an ace for the set winning point. C.V. took a 0-4 lead in the second set but Rowland scored a sideout kill and Behler served 4 straight aces for a 5-4 lead. After a sideout by C.V., Behler scored a sideout kill and Rowland served 3 aces for a 9-5 lead. C.V. came back to tie it at 11 but a kill by Shears for the sideout and a kill each by Behler, Rambo and Shears made it 15-11. The set seesawed back and forth until Rowland served an ace and Audrey Warren added a kill to make it 24-15. C.V. fought of the first set point and then missed their serve to give Prairie the match. In the third set Cash served 2 aces to give Prairie the early lead. C.V. got back within 3-2 then Blake Uhlenkott scored a sideout kill. Macie Uhlenkott then served Prairie to a 12-2 lead with 6 aces plus a kill each by Mikayla Rowland and Blake Uhlenkott. After 2 points by C.V. Behler scored a sideout kill and Shears served out the match as Blake Uhlenkott and Molly Fowler each scored a kill. The C team ended their season with a 25-16, 25-7, 15-7 sweep of the Orofino C team. Vs. Kamiah at District In their opener at District Prairie fell behind Kamiah 1-9 to open the first set. Their only point was a kill by Schlader. After adding a kill by Beka Schumacher and another by Schlader, Kamiah came back with 5 straight to take a 3-15 lead.Prairie scored 4 straight points on a kill each by Avery and Kennedy Riener and Hanson plus an ace by Beka Schumacher to make it 7-15. Kamiah then scored 7 of the next 8 points to make it 8-22. Kamiah went on to win by 14. Kamiah scored the first 2 points of the second set and Prairie then came back to take the lead. Kennedy Riener scored a sideout kill then Avery Riener served an ace. Kennedy Riener and Kylie Schumacher each added a kill for a 4-2 lead. Prairie led 7-4 after a kill by Kylie Schumacher and 2 aces by Oliver. Kamiah then scored 9 of the next 10 points to take an 8-13 lead. Prairie was then outscored 4-12 the rest of the set as Kamiah dominated again. Prairie started the third set strong as they took leads of 5-0 and 9-1. Kennedy Riener had 2 kills while Schlader, Oliver and Kylie Schumacher each had 1 in a 5-0 start. After a sideout, a kill each by Schlader and Avery Riener and 2 aces by Oliver made it 9-1. Prairie lead 11-3 after an ace by Kylie Schumacher. Kamiah then began chipping away at the lead and got within 1 at 20-19. A kill by Avery Riener made it 21-19 then Kamiah scored the final 6 points to close out the match. Kylie Schumacher had 8 kills and 4 assists in the match. Avery Riener had 6 kills, 8 assists and 2 aces. Kennedy Riener had 6 kills. Schlader had 5 kills, 11 assists and 1 ace. Hansen had 2 kills. Oliver had 1 kill, 2 assists and 4 aces. Beka Schumacher had 1 kill and 2 aces. Tori Shears had 1 assist. Vs. Kendrick at District In the final match of the day Prairie played Kendrick in a loser-out match.The Pirates jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the first set as Kylie Schumacher scored a sideout kill and Avery Riener served 8 straight points. She had 3 aces while Kylie added 2 kills and 2 blocks and Kennedy Riener scored a kill. Oliver had 2 aces sandwiching a kill by Avery Riener to make it 13-2. A kill by Beka Schumacher and an ace by Kylie Schumacher made it 16-3. Prairie eventually won the set by 15. Kendrick scored the first point in the second set then bricked a serve. Oliver served Prairie to a 5-1 lead with 2 aces plus 2 kills by Kylie Schumacher. Kendrick came back and eventually took an 8-10 lead. Prairie didn’t lead again until Kylie Schumacher scored 2 kills and then a block for a 13-12 lead. Kendrick answered back with 5 straight points for a 13-17 lead. Prairie was down 14-18 when Schlader scored a sideout kill. 2 kills by Beka Schumacher and an ace by Schlader tied it at 18. After a sideout, Hansen scored on a free ball and Beka Schumacher served 2 aces for a 21-19 lead. Prairie held on to the lead for the rest of the set even though they only won by 2 points. In the third set Coach Shears gave the subs a chance to play. Prairie scored first but then Kendrick took the lead and built leads of 4-11, 8-18 and 11-22. Prairie trailed 13-24 when Kylie Schumacher scored a back row kill. Behler then served 4 straight aces before Kendrick was able to score the set winner. The starters went back in for the fourth set and Kylie Schumacher scored 3 straight kills to start the set. Kendrick answered with 5 straight points to take the lead. Prairie tied it on an ace by Oliver and then took the lead for good on an ace by Kylie Schumacher that made it 7-6. Beka Schumacher and Oliver each added a kill to make it 9-6.2 aces by Beka Schumacher gave Prairie a 13-8 lead and a kill by Kylie Schumacher made it 15-9. An ace by Kylie made it 19-12. Kendrick got back within 5 at 19-14 before a kill by Schlader made it 20-14. Schlader then served 2 aces and Kylie added a kill for a 23-14 lead. Kendrick scored a sideout but then bricked their serve. Beka Schumacher then ended the match with an ace. Kylie Schumacher had 24 kills, including 3 blocks, plus 3 aces. Beka Schumacher had 10 kills and 5 aces. Kennedy Riener had 9 kills, including a block. Hansen had 4 kills including a block. Avry Riener had 2 kills, 26 assists and 4 aces. Lapwai at District In another elimination match at District, this time Prairie wasn’t able to come through with a win.Prairie took the lead on 2 kills by Kylie Schumacher and jockeyed back and forth with the Wildcats until at 11-10, Lapwai scored a sideout and added 4 straight points to take the lead for good. The second set saw the lead change hands several times. Prairie then fell behind by as many as 6 at 13-19. They saw Lapwai score a kill to make it 19-24 and then Lapwai bricked a serve. With Hansen serving Prairie tried to come back. Kylie Schumacher scored on a block then Kennedy Riener scored back-to-back kills to make it 23-24 before Lapwai finally scored the set-winning point. In the third set Lapwai took a 3-7 lead before Prairie rallied back. Hansen scored a block for a sideout. Schlader then served 3 aces and Beka Schumacher added a kill for an 8-7 lead. After Lapwai tied it, they missed a serve. Schlader then served 3 aces and Hansen added a kill to make it 13-8. Lapwai came back within 1 at 13-12 but Prairie responded with a sideout and an ace by Hansen. A kill by Kylie Schumacher made it 18-14 and sent Oliver to the service line. Beka Schumacher scored a couple of kills. Oliver then served 2 aces. After a Lapwai timeout, Kylie Schumacher Beka Schumacher each scored a kill to make it 24-14. Oliver then served an ace to win the set. Prairie tried to take that momentum into the fourth set and took a 3-2 lead on an ace by Avery Riener and a kill by Kylie Schumacher. 2 kills by Beka Schumacher made it 5-3. A block by Hansen and a kill by Beka Schumacher made it 7-5 but that was the last gasp for the Lady Pirates. Lapwai came back with 8 of the next 9 points to take an 8-13 lead and Prairie was not able to rally back into the set. Beka Schumacher wound up with 17 kills and 5 aces. Kylie Schumacher had 14 kills, including 2 blocks, plus an assist. Kennedy Riener had 10 kills and 1 assist. Hansen had 8 kills, including 3 blocks and 1 ace. Schlader had 4 kills, 11 assists and 3 aces. Avery Riener had 1 kill, 27 assists and 2 aces. Oliver had 2 assists and 3 aces. Tori Shears had 3 assists.
