Cottonwood City Council meets The Cottonwood City Council held their October meeting Tuesday, Oct. 14. Since there was only enough candidates running to fill the positions up for election, the candidates were declared elected. Brett Miller was re-elected to his position and Debby O’Neill was elected to the position held by Gus Hoene. Hoene chose to resign effective the end of his term. The council voted to approved the JUB Engineering Contract dealing with Standard Specifications for city utilities. They also discussed Union Highway District’s request to join the West Camas Transportation group. City Attorney Joe Wright wanted to look at the current agreement first to see if there would be any issues in this request. Rick Johnson appeared and discussed the installation of new scoreboards at the Wimer Ballfields. Since this item was not on the agenda, the council will vote on it at the November meeting. In the water report, the city pumped 5,600,400 gallons and sold 5,434,407 gallons for a 4.73% loss. New telemetry has been installed at the reservoirs so that city crew can access the information over the Internet. They are still waiting on equipment to arrive to do the work on well #5. In the sewer report, Miller noted they are getting ready for Phase I work. They are also finalizing property purchase. The fire department may use the house for training. Design for the storage reservoir is hoped to be done by December. Amy Uptmor updated the council on the project and said Knife River has been awarded the contract for Phase 1. Kristie Holthaus reported they are grading the gravel streets and doing some patching. JUB Engineering is working on addressing comments for the NRCS flood control project. Linda Nida reported the splash pad has been winterized and they are working on table placements at the park. She also reported some playground equipment has been bent and needs fixed. Holthaus reported the Idaho County Sheriff’s Department training went well at the airport. Nida reported their were no fire calls in September. The council had clerk Lynn Thompson look into aged receivables in taking them to collections and reaching out to see what other cities are doing. The council meeting adjourned at 8:20 p.m. The next regular meeting is set for Monday Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. |
