Vs. Deary at District
In their district opener the Lady Patriots faced Deary, a team that in past years they have had better success against at District than during the regular season.
It didn’t work out that way this time.
They fell behind 0-5 in the opening set before Savannah Perrin got them on the board with 2 straight kills. After a violation against Deary, they trailed just 3-5 but Deary then scored the next 5 points to make it 3-10.
A kill by Perrin and 2 aces by Miah Mager cut the margin to 6-10.
Deary then pulled away to an 11-22 lead.
A kill by Cece Remacle kicked off a rally as Catherine Beckman served 5 straight points. She had 2 aces while Perrin had 2 kills plus a block to cut the lead to 17-22. Deary then scored the sideout and scored 2 of the next 3 points to win the set.
The Patriots started better in the second set as Beckman scored a kill and then served 2 aces for a 3-0 lead. A kill each by Perrin and Mager made it 5-2. Bosco held the lead until Deary tied it at 11-11.
A kill by Mager put Bosco back on top and a kill by Perrin made it 13-11.
Deary closed within 1 at 16-15 then missed a serve. Mager scored a kill, Perrin served and ace and Beckman scored a kill to make it 20-15.
Deary then answered with 5 straight to tie it at 20.
A dig by Perrin put Bosco back in the lead by Deary tied it at 21. A kill by Mager made it 22-21 but Deary tied it again. A kill by Beckman gave Bosco their final lead at 23-22. Deary then scored a kill to tie it and an ace to take their first lead of the set. They then added another kill to win the set.
Losing when then led the set until the very end seemed to take the fight out of the Patriots as Deary rolled to leads of 0-5, 1-7 and 3-13 in the third set on their way to a 16 point win.
Perrin had 17 kills, including a block and 1 ace. Beckman had 5 kills and 4 aces. Mager had 4 kills, 1 assist and 2 aces. Remacle had 4 kills, 10 assists and 2 aces. Catherine Seubert had 1 kill and 2 assists. Madeline Wassmuth had 13 assists.
