Girls team, two boys qualify for State
Two Prairie boys and the girls team qualified for State at the District Cross Country Meet held at Lewiston Tuesday, Oct. 21.
The girls team finished 2nd behind Logos with 53 points, edging out Kootenai, who had 60 points, to qualify as a team for State.
Sydney Shears led the girls team by placing 4th in 20:50, the only non-Logos runner in the top 5. Shears’ time broke the school record of 21:00 she set a couple weeks ago on the same course.
Evelyn Gehring also would have qualified for State as an individual by finishing 9th in 22:29. The top 11 finishers qualified for State.
Ella McLeod was 16th in 24:33. Callie Remacle was 21st in 25:42. Aubree Riener was 22nd in 26:12. Lillianne Lustig was 25th in 27:20 and Bella Musick was 29th in 28:10.
The top 13 finishers in the boys race qualified for State. Chase VonBargen qualified by finishing 10th in 18:32. Phineas Fitch finished in 13th by 1 second at 18:46 to also qualify for State.
Matthew Jones was 17th in 19:31. Landon Riener was 32nd in 23:49 and Gabe DeCaria was 35th in 24:20.
State will be at the same course in Lewiston on Saturday, Nov. 1 with the girls 2A race starting at 10 a.m. and the boys 2A race starting at 11:30 a.m.
