To the Library and Beyond
Prairie Community Library, Inc. – Your nonprofit, all volunteer source.
Please take time to join the Board of Directors of Prairie Community Library, Inc. for their November meeting on Thursday 20 November at 10 AM in the Library.
Joan has reviewed the 1997 book, The Oregon Trail Revisited, by Gregory M. Franzwa.  “This is a fascinating book.”  Mr. Franzwa wrote this book about the history and route of the Oregon Trail and its current-day visibility in six U.S. States.  The author described the old route, with conditions on the trail as the original travelers passed over it.  He devoted one chapter to each of the six states through which the trail passed, giving specific driving directions for current-day travelers to see the remains of the old trail in many different areas of each state.  In the final chapter, he detailed a quick trip for those interested in taking about ten days to drive the old trail across the six states.  It is evident that the author very thoroughly researched this book over several years.
Pat G. gives us another three “Thumbs-Up” for:  The Bandit Of the Black Hills by Max Brand; Heidi Grows Up by Charles Tritten, “[a good sequel to Johanna Spyri’s Heidi]”; and The Raven & Other Poems & Stories Of Edgar Allen Poe, of which, Pat most appreciates the poem, Eldorado.
November is National Family Literacy Month and Picture Book Month.  Prairie Community Library likes to take every opportunity to thank all our volunteers, those who started this enterprise, everyone who has helped in any manner along the way, and especially those who currently volunteer their time to keep our Library on course.  More than ever, we need to thank those super-responsible volunteers on the Board who make decisions for the Library’s future.  “Volunteering can help us develop new skills and competencies.”
On Wednesday, 19 November, we remember President Lincoln’s 1863 Gettysburg Address.  On Thursday, 20 November, we may notice the New Moon by the lack of moonlight.
The volunteers who manage and operate Prairie Community Library aspire to encourage and facilitate visionary thinking throughout the organization.
Send your volunteer message to cottonwoodlib@gmail.com.  Volunteering increases our social skills.”  Please recommend improvements to the Library’s direction, priorities and customer service.  Thank you all!
