St. John Bosco students government fundraises for 2 local youths St. John Bosco Academy's student government just completed their second school-wide fundraising campaign of the year. Both campaigns benefited little boys in our community with medical needs. In September a campaign launched to benefit two-year old Toby Forsmann who is suffering from two different types of seizures. Doctors are working to find a specific diagnosis and medicine that is effective. Toby's mom Amy worked as the Kindergarten teacher at SJBA before becoming a stay-at-home mom. With this transition the family was without medical insurance for a few months, which is when the seizures began. In the month-long campaign, students brought in $2,236.13 and earned 14,442 prayer points for Toby and his family. Students' prayers were assigned points depending on the type of prayer. Offering a Mass earned 50 points, and a rosary 10 points, with other prayers having lower point values. The Forsmann family is continuing to accept donations to assist with medical expenses at www.givesendgo.com/TobyF. The second campaign began in October and benefited Zane Prigge and family. Zane traveled to Seattle to receive a bone marrow transplant after being born with a rare immune deficiency. Zane's parents are SJB alumni and his older siblings are current students. Students competed by class to collect pop tabs and to pray for Zane. The pop tabs will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House to help offset the family's expenses during their long Seattle stay. At the end of the campaign, students earned 15,308 prayer points for Zane and collected 31,937 pop tabs. This count continues to grow as people continue to bring in tabs. A donation account for Zane is set up at Cottonwood Credit Union. The 6th grade class were winners of the campaign, both in number of prayers and number of pop tabs collected.
