Local company reaches milestone
Sleeping Bear Soaps & Sundries is pleased to announce a new milestone.  For the first time in company history, Sleeping Bear Soap's sales order weights and volumes required shipment via over the road truck freight line service. Floyd Blue Whitley with some of the shipping boxes.
"We've been shipping products nationally for over two years now," said Floyd Whitley, co-owner along with his wife Darla of Sleeping Bear Soaps & Sundries in Cottonwood, Idaho.  "In the past, normal UPS Ground delivery was sufficient to meet the demand for our handmade products. Now, however, some of our sales to the Midwest exceed UPS' normal freight weight and volume limits."
"We are therefore pleased to announce our arrangement with Grangeville-New Meadows Freight Line located in Grangeville, ID and Oak Harbor Freight Lines headquartered in Auburn, WA for over the road truck shipment nationwide of our large wholesale sales orders.  These large orders are complete turnkey retail sales floor display units for high volume accounts."
Whitley added "We also have an arrangement with Arnzen Construction of Cottonwood to build our retail floor display units.  Morris and his shop took our prototype design for a soap and bath product retail floor display cabinet and did a fantastic job, producing an initial set of very high end retail unit that met certain requirements we had.  We now offer a complete point of sales package that includes our premium Sleeping Bear products for our wholesale customers.
"With the freight service expertise of Grangeville-New Meadows and the cabinetry expertise of Arnzen Construction, we believe that we are beginning to put some important pieces of our business model into place," Whitley continued.   "Yes, these are baby steps, but we now have our premium handmade soap products on retail shelves in 18 states, or 19 states as soon as we ship a pending order, and we intend to continue our national market share expansion."
An integral part of Sleeping Bear Soaps & Sundries mission statement includes employment, sales and investment strategies that help foster local rural economic strength and stability.  "Soon, we hope to announce several other key company developments as our business continues to expand."
