Concert is Saturday
Don't miss out on the opportunity to hear world-renowned classical guitarist Alfredo Muro in concert this Saturday, September 18, 6:30 pm. The concert is a fundraiser for the Historical Museum at St. Gertrude and will be held in the monastery's chapel.Alfredo Muro
"We've been planning this event for over a year," said Lyle Wirtanen, Museum Director, "and finally, it is happening! The response has been overwhelming with tickets sales from as far away as Boise and Spokane. The last of the general admission tickets are selling quickly."
Muro is a Peruvian born guitarist who taught himself how to play the guitar. He earned a scholarship to study guitar with maestro Jose Pepe Torres and continued his studies while earning a law degree. He has played for Pope John Paul II in Rome at a Vatican "Special Audience."
Local vocalist Cherie Seubert will sing "You Raise Me Up" and "Ave Maria" accompanied by Muro. Another special performance will be several selections of Gregorian Chant performed by the Monastery's Schola, also accompanied by Muro.
"I encourage people to take advantage of this fantastic opportunity to enjoy a cultural event in our area," said Wirtanen, "and I look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday night."
