Dr. Masar to be honored
Dr. Maurice Masar will receive the 2004 Idaho Trustee of the Year award during the Idaho Hospital Association’s Annual Convention, October 2-5, in Sun Valley. Dr. Maurice Masar
Dr Masar has been a member of the joint Board of Directors for Clearwater Valley Hospital & Clinics and St. Mary’s Hospital & Clinics for over three years.  He recently served a term as President.  Dr. Masar also was a member of the CVHC Board of Directors from the early 1980s until it joined the Benedictine Health System in 1998.
“ Dr. Masar gives very generously of his time and talents for both facilities in addition to the thousands of hours he has donated to the communities over his many years as a physician, surgeon, volunteer and board member,” says the conference program.  “Although there are many very capable trustees in our great state, it is hard to imagine that anyone has dedicated more time to his communities than Dr. Maser, a truly giving, deserving person.”
The nomination form included quotes from individuals with whom Dr. Masar has worked, many in volunteer positions. Testimonials were provided by Dr. Andrew Jones, SMHC physician; Neal Johnson, Orofino EMT; Nick Albers, Back Country Medics; John Swayne, Clearwater County Child Abuse Prevention Task Force; Nancy Spencer, Clearwater Health and Rehab and Casey Meza, CVHC/SMHC CEO.
According to the IHA program, Dr. Masar  provided guidance and direction to the two rural hospitals, helping them form a partnership where collaboration has been the key to the success of both.  The program also cited SMHC’s ‘Brightest Star’ Award and the two federal appropriations obtained for CVHC.
