Presentation planned for Kooskia on Corps of Discovery dog
The third Lewis & Clark community presentation sponsored by the Kamiah and Kooskia chambers of commerce will feature local artists Dennis J. Sullivan and Frances Conklin.
The event will be held at the Kooskia City Hall community meeting room on Saturday Dec. 11 from 2-4 pm.
This presentation, “Dog Tales: the Story of the Expedition Dog” explores the life and times of Meriwether Lewis’ dog, Seaman, who accompanied the expedition to the Pacific Ocean and back.  By using props, humor, and a dog costume to bring journal entries to life their presentation is suitable for audiences of all ages.  Pictures can be taken with the dog so bring cameras!
Dennis & Frances own Dog Bark Park and the Dog Bark Park Inn Bed & Breakfast in Cottonwood.  They have interpreted Seaman’s story through their woodcarvings and presentations including exhibits at the National Lewis & Clark Bicentennial kickoff event held at Monticello, Virginia in Jan. 2003 and an exhibit running through 2006 at the LCSC Center for Arts & History, 415 Main Street, in Lewiston.  Dennis and Frances are recipients of the Governor’s Take Pride in Idaho Cultural Tourism Award.
