Pirates lose big to Kendrick
Lack of offense and a sloppy defense led to a big loss for the Prairie baseball team as Kendrick beat them 0-13 at Cottonwood Tuesday, March 22.Dan Riener pitches as Eric Lerandeau holds the runner on at first.
Prairie committed 4 errors in the game and were limited to just 2 hits as Kendrick avenged a loss given to them by the Pirates a week earlier.

Pitcher Dan Riener then recorded 2 strikeouts but on the second strikeout, the ball got away from catcher Chad Arnzen with the batter reaching safely and the first run scoring. Another hit batsman and an error led to 2 more runs.
Prairie looked to rally back in the bottom of the first as Mat Forsmann beat out a slow roller in to third for an infield single but a pop-up and fly ball out to center ended the inning.
Sean Daly fouls off a pitch.Prairie managed to get only one runner as far as third base. In the fourth inning Riener led off by reaching on an error. He stole second and went to third when the catcher’s throw went into centerfield. He didn’t get any farther as the Kendrick pitcher struck out the next 3 hitters.
Kevin Funke had Prairie’s only other hit when he singled to lead off the sixth.
Riener allow 6 runs on 3 hits in 3 innings with 2 walks and 5 hit batters and 4 strikeouts. C. J. Rieman came on in the fourth and pitched 2 good innings before Kendrick got to him in the sixth for 7 runs on 4 hits with 3 errors contributing to the scoring. Rieman wound up allowing 7 runs on 4 hits with 1 walk, 1 hit batter and 1 strikeout in 3 innings.
The game was called after the 6th inning on the 10-run rule.
