Pirates lose at Kamiah
The Prairie baseball team lost to Kamiah for the second time this season as they fell 4-10 at Kamiah Tuesday, April 5.Kevin Funke led off the game at Kamiah with a single to right.
The game was moved to Kamiah as the infield at Cottonwood was too muddy to play on.
Prairie fell behind in the second inning when Kamiah was awarded a 2-run homer on a long fly ball down the rightfield line that appeared to have been foul.
Kamiah added to the lead with a 4 run fourth inning as they pounded out 4 outs. 
The Kubs picked up 4 more in the fifth with 3 errors contributing heavily to the scoring for a 0-10 lead.
Prairie finally got on the board in the bottom of the fifth when Eric Lerandeau led off the inning with a deep fly ball to left that appeared to be caught but bounced out of the left fielder’s mitt and over the fence for a home run.
Chris Schumacher the walked and moved to second on a ground out by Kevin Funke. He went to third on a wild pitch. After another out, Dan Riener walked and Chad Arnzen reached on an infield single as Schumacher scored. C. J. Rieman then doubled to the gap in left center to score both Riener and Arnzen. After another walk, Kamiah changed pitchers and got the final out of the 5-inning game.
Prairie had a chance to take an early lead in the game as Funke led off the game for Prairie with a single to right and Riener reached on a bad hop single in the infield. The runners moved up on an error but were stranded as Kamiah ended the inning with a pair of strikeouts.
Rieman pitched the first 4 innings for Prairie and allowed 6 runs on 6 hits with 4 walks and 4 strikeouts. Riener pitched the final inning allowing 4 unearned runs on just 1 hit with 2 hit batters and a walk.
Lerandeau had a homer while Rieman had a double. Arnzen had 2 singles and Riener, Funke and Phil Henry each had a single.
The loss drops Prairie to 1-6 on the season.

Game suspended by rain in the fourth inning
A White Pine League baseball game at Culdesac made it into the top of the fourth inning before rain halted the game with Prairie up 4-0 Thursday, April 7.
The game will be completed prior to the Pirates’ home game against Culdesac on May 5.
Prairie took the lead in the top of the first with a 2-out rally. Dan Riener doubled to left center then Chad Arnzen was hit by a pitch and C.J. Rieman and Sean Daly were both walked to force home Riener with the game’s first run.
In the second inning Eric Lerandeau and Chris Schumacher both walked. After an out Mat Forsmann singled to left to score Lerandeau and Riener singled to right to score Arnzen. Walks to Arnzen and Rieman forced home Forsmann for a 4-0 lead.
Riener led off the fourth inning with a single to left and that’s when play was halted. They’ll pick the game up at that point.
Meanwhile Rieman has a 1-hitter going after 3 innings on the mound with 5 strikeouts and 1 walk so far.
