Pirates qualify for State
Despite not being able to finish the District Tournament due to rains, the Prairie baseball team was awarded a state berth and will play Friday, May 20 at noon MDT at Caldwell High School against District 3 champion Council. Kendrick will play Notus prior to that at 10 a.m.
The two first game losers will play at 2 p.m. while the winners will play at 4 p.m.
On Saturday at 10 a.m. the winner of game 3 will play the loser of game 4 with the winner of that game facing the game 4 winner at noon for the state championship.
Prairie advanced to state by virtue of a White Pine League by-law that states if district play is not completed by Saturday night that the top regular season seeds will be awarded the state berths. Since Kendrick and Prairie finished first and second in league play they were awarded the state berths.
Prairie takes an 11-8 record into the state tournament.
