resigns as PHS principal
Mike Bundy, principal at Prairie High School for the past 6 years has resigned to pursue his doctorate.
His letter of resignation appears below.
Superintendent Stan Kress said that Bundy had asked for additional leave time to pursue his education but the School Board felt they wanted him there more, not less.
Announcement to Community: Resignation
I wish to announce my resignation as principal of Prairie High School. I have decided to pursue my doctorate program full time in order to complete the degree requirements this next year at the University of Idaho, Moscow. I wish to thank Mr. Kress for his supervision and personal friendship and the Cottonwood School District Board of Trustees this past six years. I would like to recognize and thank my two wonderful colleagues, Rene Forsmann and Dave Snodgrass, whom I believe are two of the most professional and hard working principals in Idaho. Additionally, I wish to thank Prairie High School staff and commend them for their skills, dedication and commitment to the students of our community.
In my six years as high school principal, I worked diligently to find ways to stabilize the athletic program which was having serious financial difficulties when I arrived. I sought to raise student test scores, which are currently among the highest in the state for any high school of any size. I authored a $150,000 facilities grant which helped all of our schools by adding handicap accessible bathrooms and facilities, removed asbestos, remodeled the high school library, and resolved additional electrical problems within our schools. I additionally obtained a grant that established a learning center in our library for web-based courses for our medical students and Plato software for both credit recovery and ISAT remediation. In multiple ways Prairie High School is the best high school in the state of Idaho thanks to the wonderful students, staff, and parents who support our school.
I sincerely appreciate all the support everyone has given to me, and I wish the best for Prairie High School and the Cottonwood Jt. School District #242.
