Arnzen ordained to the priesthood
Bishop Patrick McGrath ordained Deacon Mark Christopher Arnzen to the priesthood, June 4, at the Cathedral Basilica of St Joseph in San Jose, California.
Arnzen’s parents are Mariel Haener Arnzen and the late Maynard Arnzen.  He has three brothers; Morris, Cottonwood; Mitch, Twenty-nine Palms, CA; and Martin, Moscow and five sisters; Mauna, San Franciso; Molly, Coeur d’Alene; Mary Cay, Cottonwood; Melissa, Portland; and Marne, Seattle.  He graduated from Prairie High School in 1979.  After serving in the U.S. Marine Corps for 4 years Arnzen received his BA in Philosophy from Holy Names College in Oakland, CA.  He taught for two years at the St Bonaventure Mission in Thoreau N.M.  Arnzen obtained his California teaching credential and taught 6th grade from 1994-2000 at St Lawrence the Martyr school in Santa Clara, CA.
Arnzen will receive a Masters of Divinity, an MA in Theology and a Baccalaureate in Sacred Theology from St Patrick’s Seminary in Menlo Park, CA.  He spent his pastoral year at St Catherine of Alexandria Parish in Morgan Hill, CA and took his clinical pastoral education at Providence Medical Center in Portland, OR.  Ordained to the transitional deaconate on January 29,2005, he will be assigned to St Martin of Tours parish in San Jose.
Fr. Mark will celebrate a mass of Thanksgiving, June 19, at 11 a.m. at St Anthony’s Parish in Greencreek, ID.  You are cordially invited to join Fr. Mark and his family in this celebration and the reception to follow.
