Local woman dies in collision
Bertha Kopczynski of Cottonwood was killed in a car accident near the Cadillac Ranch on Highway 95 at approximately 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11.
Heavy fog was a factor in the collision.
Kopczynski, 82, was traveling north near milepost 279 when her 2005 Buick Century was struck head-on.
Everardo M. Morgan, 81, of Clarkston was southbound in a 1995 GMC Savannah Van and had entered the northbound lane in an attempt to pass a semi truck in extremely foggy conditions when the collision occurred according to a new release from the Idaho State Police.
Kopczynski died at the scene.
Morgan was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston where he was treated and released. Charges are pending against Morgan according to the ISP report.
