Calista Karel Wins District Vocal Solo Contest
Calista Karel, a sophomore at Prairie High School, competed in the District 2 Solo Contest in Deary on March 22nd.  She came in 1st place in the Soprano Solo division singing “Ridente la Calma” by W.A. Mozart and earned a “1”score.  She will now compete at the state contest in Boise the 1st weekend in May.

Regina Seubert – 4th place winner at Lionel Hampton Jazz festival.
Regina Seubert placed 4th in the Alto Middle School Solo Division at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival in Moscow.  She was 1-point behind the 3rd place soloist.  Regina sang “I Don’t Get around much Anymore” and “It Don’t Mean a Thing.”

Prairie Youth Choir competes at Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival
The Prairie Youth Choir recently competed at the Lionel Hampton Jazz festival.  This year nineteen 3rd – 5th members were in the choir.  They competed in the Elementary School Division against much larger choirs, some with primarily 5th and 6th graders, and performed very well.  They came in 8th place in a field of 12 choirs.  Some of the judges’ comments were:  “I like your clarity with the words.”  “Your group really listens to each other.”  “Great overall tone quality.” and  “Good dynamics throughout the performance.”

PHS students sing in District Honor Choir
Dakota Klinkefus, Dani Terhaar, Calista Karel, Kevin Karel and Shayla Dalgliesh (not available for picture) sang in the District 2 Honor Choir in November.  They were nominated by their director, Laurie Karel, and rehearsed several times with nearly seventy other District 2 Choir members in preparation for their concert.
