Babe Ruth Team wins tournament

The Central Idaho Babe Ruth League Tournament was in Grangeville on Saturday.  Cottonwood  played Grangeville and beat them and then beat Nezperce for the championship.   2nd--Nezperce, 3rd--Culdesac and 4th--Grangeville. They still have games to play this Tues, Thurs and next week Tues, Thurs. Zephyrs win doubleheader
The Camas Prairie Zephyrs Senior Babe Ruth team (16-18 year olds) won a double header 12-3 and 6-1 over Lewiston Friday, June 16.
Cottonwood’s C.J. Rieman won the first game allowing 4 hits and 3 runs with 5 strikeouts. Phillip Henry was his catcher for the game.
Henry also had 2 hits as did Steven Key and Doug Cole. Collecting 1 hit each were Rieman, Brayden Healey, Gene Fogelman and Wade Peterson.
Healey was the winning pitcher in the second game with Fogelman pitching the final two innings. Healey allowed only 1 hit and 1 run with 2 strikeouts while Fogelman had 4 strikeouts and allowed no hits and no runs.
Henry and Key each had 2 hits in the game and Fogelman had 1 hit.

Zephyrs win twice
The Camas Prairie Zephyrs Senior Babe Ruth team won twice on Sunday, June 18 at Moscow. They defeated Moscow 6-5 and then defeated Lewiston 15-13.
In the game against Moscow Steven Key won pitching 5 1/3 innings with C.J. Rieman taking over in the 6th and pitching the final 1 2/3 innings. Key had 7 strikeouts and allowed just 1 hit. Rieman allowed 3 hits with 4 strikeouts.
Rieman also had 3 hits to lead the offense. Phillip Henry and Gene Fogelman had 2 hits each with Brayden Healey, Key, Doug Cole, Wade Peterson, Glen Caldwell and Jason Seloske collecting 1 hit each.
Against Lewiston Fogelman started and went 4 2/3 innings allowing 6 hits with 4 strikeouts. Cole pitched 1 1/3 innings allowing 4 hits and Healey finished up allowing 1 hit with 3 strikeouts in 2 innings.
Healey also had 4 hits to lead the offense with Rieman and Cole collecting 3 hits each. Key and Peterson had 2 hits each and Henry and Seloske had 1 hit each.
With only 10 plays, the Zephyrs are looking to pick up 4 or 5 more in the next couple of weeks. They have a solid team and just need a few more guys to mix in so they can compete better in the 4 to 6 game weekend tourneys and series.
This weekend the Zephyrs will be at the Single A Legion Tournament in St. Maries with games at 6 p.m. Friday, and 8 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. on Saturday. Sundays game times are to be announced.
