featured on hospitals' webpage
Since the beginning of June babies born at St. Mary’s Hospital and Clearwater Valley Hospital are featured on their website, www.smh-cvhc.org . Once the parents have given their permission the Information Technology department uploads the baby’s first photo, his or hers parents name, birth date, time, weight and length. The information can be accessed by clicking on ‘NurseryNet’ on the hospital’s home page. 
“Families who live far away can check on the newest arrival and see his or her picture by just logging onto the internet. It’s a simple way to involve out of town relatives.” said Barb Michels, RN, SMH OB coordinator. “Our staff take a digital photo of the newborn and post it to the site as soon as possible. So far, the families have appreciated this new service.” Each of the six current family practice physicians at SMHC, Dr. Andrew Jones, Dr. Ronald Sigler, Dr. Teel Bruner, Dr. Jack Secrest, Dr. Haley Minnehan and Dr. Jeremy Ostrander, deliver babies in the hospital’s homelike birthing suite. Cesarean Sections can also be performed on-site when necessary. Dr. Andrew Gilbert will also establish an OB practice when he joins the medical staff in September. “I let my brother in Austin, Texas know that he had a new nephew, Noah Behler, and that he could see him for the first time on the hospital’s web page,” said Kaschmitter. “It was neat to share his photo and information with him from that distance.” In addition to the NurseryNet feature, the website also contains a physician directory with information about both SMHC and CVHC health care providers. A calendar of events, Foundation information and a list of current employment opportunities are also featured. |
