Sports physical immunization reminder
St. Mary’s Hospital and Clinics is reminding those students who participated in their Sports Physical Clinics last June that their second Hepatitis B vaccine is due.  The Hepatitis A immunization is a series of two shots and Hepatitis B is a three shot series.
For approximately 14 years the Hep B immunizations has been part of the routine childhood immunizations administered to children under age five, but many children over the age of five have not had the recommended vaccinations.
SMHC did not charge for the initial immunization at the sports physical clinic, but there will be a $5.00  injection fee for subsequent shots.  The shots can be administered during regular clinic business hours.  No appointments are necessary.  Students are asked to bring their immunization records.
The SMHC Sports Physical Program is held in June every year.  The physical is conducted by the health providers at the Cottonwood, Craigmont and Kamiah clinics administered by SMHC.  The sports physical is offered for $25 per student with $15 donated back to the child’s school.  Physicals conducted at other times are charged the regular rate.
According to Shari Kuther, RN, SMHC Immunization Coordinator, any other person wishing to be vaccinated for Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B is welcome to receive those immunizations through the SMH Clinics in Craigmont, Kamiah, Cottonwood and Nezperce.
