New safety measures at Prairie Schools
Sadly, in the world in which we live in today, there have recently been a number of school related tragedies that have brought the focus of school safety to the forefront.  In light of this, the Prairie School Board and Administration have asked each school to put in place a plan of action for such events.
Recently at each school, the classroom teacher discussed with their students the proper procedure should such an emergency occur in their building.  In addition, an assembly was held and the principal spoke to the students and faculty about recognizing the alarm bell, which sounds much like an ambulance or fire truck siren, and about what to do in case of an emergency.  The students will be practicing this procedure throughout the school year, much like they do with the monthly fire drill.  Hopefully it will become a familiar occurrence and will not be something that the students will feel anxious or fearful about.  As a parent, you can help your child to feel safer by letting them know that an emergency such as this is something that we will plan for, but may never happen.
Your child’s safety and well being is our top priority, and the teachers and staff at the Prairie Schools are dedicated to each student and their welfare.   If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact any building principal.
