The Library Corner
It’s hard to believe that 2006 is quickly drawing to a close. We at Prairie Community Library would like to take this opportunity to thank our patrons for their continued support.
We are especially appreciative to those individuals and business who support the recycling program. The recycling program is our main fundraiser. Funds from this program pay our monthly bills, help defray the cost of our book budget and a portion goes into our building fund. Our building fund is still in existence and is slowly growing. Anyone wanting to donate to this fund can do so at any time. Monies donated to the Library can be deducted from your income tax. Your accountant can advise you on what percentage, etc.
Come down and check out our great Christmas and Holiday book selections for adults and children. We have both fiction and non-fiction available.
Some new improvements at the library are much needed additional shelving in our children’s section. These are on order, so should be completed in the near future. We are also updating our computer system. Eventually our inventory will all be on the bar-code system. This should help with efficiency in checking out books and help with overdue books, fines and patron cards. Any suggestions to improve the library are greatly appreciated. Your input is very important because it is your library.
We have a couple of vacancies on the Library Board of Directors. If you’re interested in doing community service, this is a great opportunity to serve the community. We also need someone to help with recycling. If interested call the Prairie Community Library at 962-3714.
