Successful Year for Prairie H.S. HOSA
Prairie High School students recently attended the HOSA (Health Occupational Students of America) State Leadership Conference in Boise, Idaho. The students that attended were: Ryan Daly, Teddy Stefan, Daniel Sigler, J.D. Reiner, Randi Schumacher, Sarah Arnzen, Katie Nuxoll, Kara Guyer, Kyle Daly, Conner Reiman, and Amber Frei. PHS’s HOSA Bowl team from left are JD Riener, Teddy Stefan, Ryan Daly and Daniel Sigler). Team event participants were:  Ryan, Teddy, Daniel, and J.D. on team # 1 in HOSA Bowl; Randi, Sarah, Kyle, and Conner on team # 2 in HOSA Bowl; Teddy and Daniel in the EMT team event; and Katie and Kyle comprised one team for the First Aid/CPR event while Amber and Conner were the other team.
Individual event participants were:  Ryan in Medical Spelling; J.D. and Randi in Physical Therapy; Sarah in Medical Math; Katie in Prepared Speaking; Kara in Knowledge Tests – Nutrition and Extemporaneous Health poster; and Amber in Extemporaneous Health Poster
Students that placed in their events were:  Ryan Daly, Daniel Sigler, Teddy Stefan and J.D. Riener 1st in HOSA Bowl; Daniel Sigler and Teddy Stefan 2nd in EMT; Katie Nuxoll 2nd in Prepared Speaking; Randi Schumacher 4th in Physical Therapy; Ryan Daly 5th in Medical Spelling; J.D. Riener 6th in Physical Therapy and Kara Guyer 6th in Knowledge Test – Nutrition.
Katie Nuxoll, 2nd in prepared speaking.Congratulations to the following students that will be attending the National Conference in Orlando, Florida this month to compete: Ryan, Daniel, Teddy, JD, Randi and Katie.  They will be representing Prairie High School.  
 The National HOSA Conference is June 20-23. They will be accompanied by their advisor, Sheri Daly and parent, Diana Holubetz.
 Other members that were in HOSA this year that did not attend the State conference include:  Carly Behler, Shayla Dalgliesh, Brandon Johnson, Nathan Kaschmitter, Taylor Ratcliff, Alex Richardson, Tiffany Schaeffer, Joe Trock and Jason VonBargen.
Prairie HOSA students contributed 309 hours towards community service this past school year.  Thank you to the following individuals and facilities that offered the students the opportunity to give back to their communities:  St. Mary’s Hospital & Clinics, St. Mary’s Hospital Ambulance Service, Ferdinand Fire Department, Cottonwood Blood Drive (American Red Cross), Prairie Middle School Wellness day, Prairie Elementary School, Prairie School District School Nurse, National Ski Patrol, Snake River Community / Free Clinic in Lewiston, Cottonwood Food Bank, Center For Discovery, and St. Gertrude’s Monastery.
 We would like to thank Mrs. Sheri Daly who is our HOSA leader, she was willing to take us to the state conference and she will also be attending the HOSA National Conference in Florida. Thank You also to Mr. Dan Mills who drove the bus at the State Conference, you did a wonderful job.
